Celebrating Autumn in all her Glory & 3 Years since I started this crazy venture. What a lot I have learnt!
A house wife that got divorced & desperately needed to plough some positive energy into something, digging deep- reinventing the wheel at 54! Pulling together everything I have done from growing up in a completely bonkers creative BoHo East Sussex household (hence the Bloomsbury & Charleston obsession), working at Conde Nast across Vogue, Tatler, House & Garden & GQ as Group Property Director. Moved up North 27 years ago now & started a PR company with clients in London.
When family came along, couldn't do that anymore, so retrained in Commercial Floral Design. So on & so forth until the crunch. Ive always been passionate about my home, I've renovated 5 properties- lucky enough to have had many types from Cottage to Georgian. Friends have always said 'ohh where did you find that ?" 'Why don't you go into interior design?' No I thought.. I want to start a shop and show people what I've found, that could bring a little bit of joy to either them or their friends & family. I've Gathered & Garner (ed) some exceptional, wonderful British made things that hopefully you will cherish as much as I do! I'm not gunna lie, it's been incredibly tough working 7 days a week, week in and week out. Its taken a physical toll this year when we moved to a bigger warehouse for www.gatheredandgarner.com, 2 slipped discs & femoral nerve damage but we've done it - with considerable help from my partner (couldn't do it without him) & the two fantastic completely over qualified ladies that work in the shop. Both mums, like I was, desperate to do something a bit creative, so we are helping each other. As for my artisans - without their fantastic work ... we would be nothing!! Back to SPHERES- it's a circle- help me to help them- if you buy from me I can buy more from them & round and round it goes. We are Gathering a Tribe. Our customers come from locally & far and wide. Often making a special effort to come to Kirkby Lonsdale to see the shop. It's eccentric (like us) small but from the continual lovely comments- they are not disappointed ! Thank you all!! Exx
