Very excited about this one - we'll be joined throughout the day by the wonderful Arbeau, historic dancers who will be introducing us to the wonderful world of Baroque dancing on Saturday 8 August!

There will be performances throughout the day from 11.30 am.

Another hot day, and we've been seeking out the cooler, shadowy spaces - starting inside our Victorian cottage.

Something a little bit special happens this weekend!

Sue Slack's exhibition, Finding the Dramatic opens at Ryedale Folk Museum - a series of mixed-media works, inspired by scenes from the beautiful hills and dales of the North York Moors and the coast.

See you there?

This has been a very special year for our friends over at - they are 150 years old, and have been having some lovely celebrations this week to mark the occasion.

Gillamoor's lovely village school is actually the closest one to the museum - and we're really fortunate that we've had a great many visits from them over the years. Today, we wanted to share one of the most memorable projects they worked on with us - back when we built the labyrinth. Our staff visited their school to plan it, and the children visited our site to build it - and we all had a very lovely time!

Thanks so much, Gillamoor CE Primary School - and happy 150th anniversary!

Let's explore our shepherd's hut - one of our smaller spaces at the museum, tucked away at the top of site.

Traditional shepherds would have used huts like ours to live amongst their flocks, particularly handy in lambing season.

What do you think - would you have liked to make it your home for months on end?

You've only got a handful more days left to visit this stunning exhibition of prints by Simon Palmer - the last day of Yorkshire Landscapes is Sunday (and don't forget, we are closed on Fridays).

It's been such a privilege to host this exhibition, celebrating the beauty of Yorkshire, where Simon has lived and worked for over 40 years - including the beautiful 'Sun Setting on Watlass Moor' (pictured).

Yorkshire Landscapes features a series of limited edition prints of the original watercolours, available to purchase during the exhibition, on an unframed basis, in an edition of 100.

The exhibition is free to visit (not within the paid area of the Museum). See you very soon?
