Whatever Woodcraft

Whatever Woodcraft Whatever Woodcraft is run by myself, Martin Pearson. Most of the items are made to order, most items can be personalised.

Most of what I do is wood related, a little hand turning producing items such as pens & the rest is done mainly with a CNC machine which can produce anything I am clever enough to be able to design, early days but I am learning all the time. I can't personalise small items such as pens & purfume pens/atomisers just now, but hope to add a laser engraver at some point to be able to offer that servic

e. The aim of the Company is to make what ever the customer would like using a variety of different materials. Wood is sourced from suppliers who have a sustainability policy in place. Work is mostly with hardwoods from a local sawmill. Scottish Woods supply wood harvested in Scotland, most of it grown locally. They are also members of Scottish Working Woods. The Company has been started as part of my recovery journey after Medical Discharge from the RN with the aid of Help for Heroes & X-Forces.

The Highland cow world tour continues on the xTool Omni 01 today & is apparently now known as the Highland cow world & off-world tour.
These are 1 x white and 1 x CMYK, took 4 minutes each to print & used 6.5p worth of ink each. I have used the MSRP for the inks rather than the promotional launch pricing.

My Highland cow is on a world tour, started at home in Scotland & then can be seen on Sunset Boulevard, the last picture was supposed to be outside xTool headquarters in China but the ai couldn't do that so came up with this instead, not sure where he is going next.

Today was a plywood print, I didn't have any wood panels left so just printed to a piece of 3mm plywood, after printing I thought I could just make my own frame for it. Working this way I was able to then print the actual frame. If I were to do this again I would not use the smart mask but print the image larger so it printed some of the plywood edge, not sure how far down it would print but if far enough then you could kind of do a full wrap look, of course you could also just paint the sides lol

OK so today's Omni dual UV print is another phone case, one white & one colour, quite lucky with these phone cases because the seller had a range of colours & the silver ones that I bought were much cheaper than the others, obviously not as popular but as I was going to print on it anyway the colour didn't bother me lol
Using Smart Mask I was also able to print the whole of the front & then go back & just print the clip to keep it shut which meant that it was a full print regardless of the clip position.
Artwork on this was once again courtesy of Carole Pearson Photography.

Don't forget I do demos for xTool machines so if you are thinking of buying an xTool machine or know someone who is then you can book either an in person or online demo.

More with the Omni 01 yesterday, these are stained glass effect generated using the stained glass generator within the software, artwork for these came from one of the online sites that I don't generally tend to use apart from the one of 2 of my grandaughters outside a flower shop in Yorkshire a week or so ago.

First Lenticular print on the xTool Omni 01, need to do a little work on alignment or make a jig but it's not bad for a first experiment.
xTool have said that they were working on auto alignment so that will also help.

Second test on the rotary was a wrap on a tumbler, again one from an online site as it was already set up to use with a tumbler this size.

I have also added the Omni 01 to my demo room so if you are interested & want to know more about the machine then you can book a demo.

First test on the xTool Omni 01 printers rotary today, did the rotary calibration on a glass jar with a piece of inkjet paper taped to it & while it was still on the rotary printed these 2 images just as a first experiment, just a couple of images from one of the online sites.

Some more projects printed with the Omni 01 UV printer, ceramic fridge magnet, slate coasters, brass coins & some earrings.
I did have quite a lot more of these items but unfortunately, quite a few pieces went missing in Berlin at the launch event, I would like to think it was because people thought they were free samples & not items that I had taken along myself. Not the first time this has happened to me either. I should really know better & not take my own items lol
All of these passed a scratch test, some of them don't have any adhesion promoter applied, I did split everything & did some with & some without on what I have done here there doesn't seem to be any difference between the 2 but I may have just got lucky lol
The brass coins were actually purchased for embossing on the F2 ultra but although they were advertised as solid brass they were far from it, still at least I got to use them for something else & can do the same with those I still have left.
The earrings were made from 1mm clear acrylic cut on the P3 & then printed. I don't have pictures of them with the hooks as they were some of what went missing in Berlin lol
The hip flask is a 6oz stainless steel hip flask & printed really nicely despite the curve.
I don't have times for any of these sorry

Back in the workshop today & a couple of prints on the Omni 01 from xTool
The highland cow is reverse printed one layer of colour & then 2 layers of white, it's a 200mm square piece of clear acrylic.
The other image of the sunset has been done 2 different ways, the bottom image has been done exactly the same as the highland cow, 1 x CMYK & 2 layers white.
The top image has been reverse printed with CMYK only & then after it came off the printer a piece of white vinyl applied to the back over the top of the UV ink.
