Over the course of the last few weeks I have been working on a YT mini-series showing how hand dyed tops from my Friendship Collection can be spun up using a variety of techniques to get the yarn that you want.
Today the second method went live (link below) featuring a basic 2ply construction which is acting as a control yarn in order to compare the other techniques including fractal spinning and chain plying.
Suffice to say that even after a decade and a half of spinning I was still surprised by the outcome!

There’s another dye oven full of floof that’ll be ready in a few days time but in the meantime I have FINALLY found the time to get the last batch onto the website including the newest colourway in the Friendship Collection… somewhat vainly named Sealy… which was inspired by the colours in my logo.

A couple of weeks ago I asked you guys if you wanted to see a sneak peek around my dye room and the answer was an overwhelming yes!

So for those of you who would like to see what goes on behind the scenes in the Room Where the Magic Happens I have a wee video (by my standards 🤪) just gone live on YouTube 📺

The new Sealy colourway will be hitting the online shop soon but I am balancing baby and the shop today and therefore the likelihood of me getting work done is not high 😬 give me a day or so longer and it will be listed along with the rest of the fibre restock 🐑

This is a brand new monthly series featuring a wee peek behind the curtain and a grown up show-and-tell of my current projects - both business related and personal.

🧶 Spin In Sunday is THIS WEEKEND! 🧶

Yes, I did almost forget to mention it *again* 🫣

This is a monthly event which is a great opportunity to meet up with other like-minded spinning folk and chat about all things woolly.

Please bear in mind that this is not a teaching workshop but a great way to be inspired by those around you and possibly pick up on techniques and styles that you may not have seen in person before.

Cost: £5 per person
Tea, coffee, cakes and banter provided

Time: drop in whenever you like between 12pm and 4pm!

Sealy MacWheely is now on YouTube! 📣

I have been toying with the idea of starting a YouTube channel for a long, long, long time and after just a bit of prodding (and somewhat unexpected investment in a beautiful new camera to replace my lost trusty DSLR - RIP Simon 🪦📷 wherever you are…) I have taken the plunge and my first video is now officially live!

I figured the best place to start is at the very beginning so why not dive into the annals of Sealy MacWheely, how it all began and what lead me on the somewhat bizarre journey to starting my own yarn and fibre shop.
