I can never work a lateral braid the usual way without it being too loose. Instead I have to slip the braid stitch onto a cable needle (or obliging crochet hook, as here). You can work the twisted stitch normally then and tighten it up ☺️ Also handy if you want to stretch the braid over a couple of stitches too!

The sleeves are split! Now to expand the front edges until it joins in a lovely scoop neck and then I’ll be flying in the round!

The neckline is a lace section with short rows so that it’s deeper at the front than at the sides (and thus not quite as low-cut as it seems!) Currently unsure whether to continue a strip of the lace pattern down the centre to the waistband. I might see what it looks like and rip out if it’s pants ☺️

I’m at the stage of pattern planning where I begin to doubt my work, my ability, my life choices that led me here… Anyway, I’m not at all sure about the choice of silk mohair for this lacework. It’s very subtle (too subtle???). Answers on a postcard!
