🧵 Now weaving spells over on Threads…

I’ve joined Threads as another way to share the making, the magic, and the little witchy moments that don’t always fit into a polished post.

Expect scraps of folklore, behind-the-scenes crafting, seasonal thoughts, and the occasional tree that looks like it’s hiding a doorway.

Come say hi over there — I’d love to connect with more witchy souls!

From branch to wand… 🌿✨

I’ve been experimenting with some botanical engraving on this freshly peeled wand — just a test for now, but the soft curves of the grain and the way the engraving catches the light feels like something I want to explore more.

This is one of my favourite parts of making — that space between rough bark and something sacred. Between idea and ritual tool. 🕯️🌙

🌿 Signs of Ostara – Shapes from Sunday’s Walk ✨

The forest always knows what season we’re in… and this week, it whispered Ostara.

On Sunday’s walk, I came across two quiet messengers of the Spring Equinox:
🌸 A snake’s head fritillary, just beginning to bloom—its patterned petals bowing in the soft morning light.
🍄 And a cluster of jelly ear fungus growing from a weathered branch—a reminder of the cycle, that life springs from decay.

Both in hues of deep purple, both symbols of the balance between rest and renewal. These natural forms inspire the shapes I carve, the details I etch, and the spirit I pour into my work.

🕯️ A Day of Craft & Curiosities – From Workshop to Woodland 🌿

Today’s been a beautiful blend of craft and curiosity. I started my morning waxing a freshly finished Wheel of the Year, sealing in the seasonal magic with a soft, glowing finish. ✨

Later, we wandered the countryside and found two things that stopped me in my tracks:
👞 An incredibly old shoe, possibly from the 1800s—worn, weathered, and full of story.
🌳 And a tree with a huge, gnarly burl, pulsing with the raw, wild energy of the land.

I find inspiration in these quiet moments—the contrast of ritual care in the studio and the forgotten relics tucked into the landscape. Both hold magic. Both are part of the cycle.”

🕯️ Post-Medieval Protection – Hexafoils & Folk Magic

“This post-medieval trade token bears a hexafoil, a six-petal symbol often carved into wood, stone, and even barn doors as a mark of protection. Also known as a ‘witch mark,’ the hexafoil was believed to ward off evil spirits, curses, and misfortune—a simple yet powerful sigil used throughout Europe.

Tokens like this weren’t just currency—they were part of a world steeped in belief, superstition, and everyday magic. It’s a beautiful reminder of how symbols were used to protect and connect with the unseen.
