Cut some teeth on various Red deer antler combs today; two 'Thorfastr' combs from Lincolnshire, one Pictish Comb, and a combs from a few miles away at Heysham. Now this is done, there is just a lot of filing and sanding to do to shape the teeth!

One of my techniques for making viking age gaming pieces in a rapid and ad hoc manner. This leads to quite crude objects, akin to examples found on viking great army sites in Britain and Ireland.

Turning beautiful things from PoLe glass Shop into Viking age inset weights. The desecration of the northmen knows no bounds!

Had a day of working on some inset weights, using both wet and dry moulds to test further some ideas I have about different material types. Particularly with the glass and copper-alloy my hypothesis is still very much a WIP, but the results are similar to the originals!

As part of Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival we’re launching a Mini Viking-Age Festival at the Govan Stones Museum - and we’ve expanded! For the first time ever, the amazing Cumbraland are taking over Govan Stones for the whole weekend, bringing you TWO FULL DAYS of living history!

We’re gathering our largest assembly of Viking-age craftspeople, warriors, and practitioners yet. Step into history right where the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde ruled the Clyde, surrounded by our world-famous hogback stones.

🔥 What to Expect:
• 2 Days of Action: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September, 11 AM – 4 PM
• Living History Demonstrations: Meet traditional craftspeople, arms experts, and Viking-age artisans
• Family-Friendly Activities: Interactive demonstrations and hands-on fun
• Experience: textile activities such as spinning, weaving & nalbinding, live metal casting and glass-bead making, wood-working, farming, weaponry and war
• Free Admission: Experience top-tier history right on your doorstep

Picked up a new toy today from ! Over the moon with it, and had a good yack, coffee, and a nosey at the workshop too!

I think that will do; I can't really base it until I get home! Not my best work, but it's was a LOT more fun painting it than usual! I wonder what the family of the buried person, or the person themselves might have thought of all this?
