Steve, from Harrogate and his friend, David from Leeds rocked up today at the shop to add more super nice bikes to the rack (apologies Steve, but David’s Trek Bicycle Company Project One Madone outshone with a ridiculously cool paint job 👌🏻). Steve originally from Malawi and David from Zimbabwe are friends who met on Strava and were riding a loop the and flying the African cycling flag in style. I can’t wait to welcome them back to the shop soon 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️😎👌🏻

Maxine and Sue, from Osmotherley, stopped by today on their first day of a 3 day Way of the Roses adventure. Last night in Morecambe a near disaster of a ripped tyre was quickly sorted by calling out Sam from Lune Valley Cycles | Lancaster 🌹 🚴‍♂️ 🔧 ✨️ supplying a replacement tyre to get them on their way 🚴‍♀️👌🏻

This is their third bikepacking adventure and they like to do them in memory of a close friend who they sadly lost and was going to join them on their very first trip together. Now they ride and share memories. They were both loving their first day and having lots of fun on the way. Safe onward journey to both.

So amazing to meet an Instagram friend Altaf Altaf Hussain as he called in on his birthday ride today. He arrived around 10:30am after already riding 150km from Bradford via Fleet Moss. It was also great to see his beautiful S-Works. The colour was stunning 👌🏻🚴‍♂️😎

As always it was great to welcome Roy, who is very much a regular and his son Matthew Holmes to the shop today. Matt an ex World Tour pro was having a ride out with Roy before he hosts the inaugural HOLMES CYCLING event tomorrow Porsche Centre South Lakes . I wish Matt all the best with his new venture.

I am so lucky to keep meeting amazing people as they stop by the shop. Today Esther Wong .k.w arrived with her dad, Mike, on a training ride. Esther an Elite cyclist lives in the Galicia region of Spain and rides for Esther also rides for Ireland and is competing in the Commonwealth Games
in the next few weeks as part of the N. Ireland team across all track events. At only 20 years old she already appears to achieved so much and when I asked why she cycles, Esther said,“Because it’s fun”. I am sure this outlook will see her go far in her career and I wish her all the best in the upcoming games.

More weekend stories of riders passing through the shop… These are ‘Friends all linked by university days’ and are Chris, Chris Matt and Steve. They arrived first thing Saturday morning and were doing the Way of the Roses in 2 days. They have ridden loads of challenges and last time did it in the day. Their comment of the day was “We’re all getting older” Don’t we all know that feeling 😬! 🚴🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♂️👌🏻😎

Barnoldswick Clarion stopped in at shop yesterday, at mile 75’ish, on their yearly 100. The six riders were Dave, Steve, Sue, Mark, Jeremy and Gary (Left to right). So, as many of you might know, I was again this week in the presence of another amazing woman in the world of cycling… Sue Gornall, a former Great Britain cyclist, competed in the World Championships and the Tour de France 4 years running from 1986-1989 🚴‍♀️👏. I hope the last 25 miles went smoothly 🚴🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴🚴‍♂️🚴👌🏻

Today, Bjørn and Dorien, from Amsterdam, called by for Bjørn to pick up a pair of Paul Pedals socks… We don’t stock them yet, but, watch this space - Road and gravel socks incoming! Don’t worry, I have Bjørns address, so a pair will be heading out to the Netherlands soon 🧦👌🏻. Apologies, I digress…, They told me they are touring the UK for their 4th year in succession and have previously toured the ‘Whole world by bike’ 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🌍🏕️
