Ergonomics shouldn’t stop at the front door.
We all understand the importance of ergonomics at work.
You've had a workstation assessment to make sure your desk and chair support your back properly. If you work from home, you may have invested in an ergonomic chair, standing desk or extra support for working at the dining table.
It makes sense. We spend a lot of time at our desks, so good ergonomics and regular movement help reduce strain on the body and potential risk of back problems.
But what about after work?
Research by EE earlier this year found that us Brits spend about 20 hours a week on the sofa. That’s nearly 3 hours a day.
Yet a lot of sofas are too deep or too soft to support the spine well. Hence you end up shifting around, tucking your legs up because your feet don’t reach the floor, or needing to stretch when you do stand up.
Plus ,once you’re settled in for the evening, you probably don’t make the same effort to get up and move as you do during the working day.
Over time that can lead to back and neck issues.
It’s one of the reasons we developed the Sittingwell® cushion. To bring better ergonomics naturally into the home and give your lower back proper support while you relax at the end of the day.
