Here is a bag I have made, beautifully modelled by an unsuspecting Mark in Keep Audio Co. ! 🤣 He then went on to order one in cat fabric for his partner so, result! 😃

It’s a large bag and I like it because it’s a different shape to your standard tote bag and I can get all my s**z in it! 🤩

It is fully lined and can be one fabric all round, or two different fabrics! I will be putting some on a craft stall in Callington at an event run by Make Stuff Happen CIC on Sunday 26th of July or you can order one directly!

Prices may vary depending on which fabric is being used but is likely to be between £20 and £30.

I have been making some updates to the website. While I still have some more bits to add, I have tidied things up a bit, added some more photos on the home and crafts pages and answered some faqs that often come up on the accommodation page.

Unfortunately, in the age of AI, it appears that the booking dot com site uses AI generated summaries that get shown to potential guests and they aren’t always accurate. I have queried this a number of times.

So, if you are coming to stay with us do take a look.

I will be adding pics of Ziggy’s handmade guitars and more sewing items I have made as well as links to an Etsy shop - when I have got around to setting it up!!

Wow a throw back to almost 4 years to the day when we welcomed our first guests into the room we call Lanstefan view ! I can’t believe it’s been 4 years of doing this!

We have changed things slightly. We now send all bed linen to be ironed at the Laundry Basket who are just brilliant.

My son and dad (Ziggy) do the room changes and Ziggy does a great job of messaging guides and welcoming them and doing a guided tour of the cells if no one is staying in them.

It’s been a journey but it is great to meet people from all over the world. We often get Australian, New Zealand, and Canadian guests who have Cornish ancestry.

99.9% of people are a joy to host - there’s always one 😬🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

If you’ve been to stay at the Old Police Station you will know that Emma has made the cushions, bins and bags for toiletries and towels that are in the rooms.
Sometimes people ask if they can buy them so I usually keep a stock of a few bits that peoole can buy.
As I have been taking a bit of respite from my ‘day jobs’ I have enjoyed making some more cushions and bins.
Small bins are 13” tall and 8” wide/deep, large bins are 21” tall and 12” wide/deep. I can make some to suit your colour scheme.
Bins have vinyl inserts so that they can be easily wiped clean. You also remove them and put them in the washing machine on a cool wash.
Here are some examples of bins and cushions i have recently made. Prices may vary based on the cost of fabric used:

Reviews - from the sublime to the ridiculous !

Spring is well under way here and the sun is out today! We have guests in at the moment and have had a steady stream, with things looking busy as we move into June, July, and August. We do have some gaps so please feel free to call Ziggy on 07305 566234 if you need somewhere to stay and can’t see it online.

We do chuckle at some of the reviews we get. We have a notebook in each room and also reviews on booking. com and Google.

We are rated 9.3 and 9.5 so that’s pretty good. However, we sometimes have some slightly ‘quirky’ reasons for reducing the rating.

For example, one person complained that it took them too long to get to Launceston from Scotland ! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m really sorry about that, we’ll do better next time! 😬

Another complained about the ‘rubble’ in the garden - Ziggy was particularly miffed about this, stating to me ‘humph, that’s my unique and priceless Cornish stone that I’ve been collecting for my rockery and water feature’ - we do let everyone know that we are still working on parts of the interior and exterior - it’s an old, rustic, and beautiful building that takes time and care getting right.

Another marked us down because the drive is narrow - we do warn people about this and check what vehicle they are bringing, beforehand. We are lucky to have private parking where we are so guests don’t have to pay. Often, when I demonstrate how I (a girl no less ! 🤣) drive my T5 campervan in and out daily, the chaps relent. 😊

We are, apparently, ‘pennypinching’ because we don’t put a full loo roll 🧻 in - yes we do, just Ziggy insists on starting the loo roll to save guests the trouble doing it themselves. And there are spares in the cupboard. We also let people know they can have as many loo rolls as they want and to ask if they run out! In fact, Ziggy will pretty much pop out and get anything you feel is missing - within reason.

On the whole we have some really lovely and well thought out comments. We appreciate constructive feedback and have even had a hotel inspector stay recently (inspecting hotels in Cornwall, not us!) who gave us some really helpful feedback and information relating to the latest guidelines for the hotel industry. (NB we are NOT a hotel but we do our best to keep our standards high.)

Anyhow, thought these might amuse you 🤣

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
