People in Cornwall are set to enjoy some of the best views of the solar eclipse next week as the early weather forecast indicates the perfect conditions for it.
On Wednesday (August 12) people in the UK and Ireland will see a partial solar eclipse, with between 90 and 96 per cent of the sun being covered by the moon's shadow.
According to the BBC weather forecast, several towns in Cornwall are expected to have clear and dry skies which make for 'very good' visibility.
A map by the Royal Museums Greenwich shows Cornwall, particularly parts of the north and west coast, being the area in the UK closest to a full eclipse. Land's End will experience 95.8 per cent.
Exact timings of the solar eclipse will vary depending on where you are but spectators will be able to see more coverage the further south-west they are.
The ‘first contact’, where the moon first covers the disc of the sun, is expected to occur in Truro, for example, at 6.18pm on Wednesday.
The 'eclipse maximum', when most of the sun is covered, will then occur at 7.16pm. The end of eclipse is expected to be 8.10pm.
