SCHOOL UNIFORM WASHING TIP!

The new school uniform has been bought… the labels have been removed… and now comes the washing!

But before you throw those lovely new shirts into the washing machine, there’s one little thing to watch out for…

SHIRT COLLAR STIFFENERS!

Those little plastic stiffeners can work their way out of the collar during a wash and, if they get into the wrong place, they can end up getting caught in the washing machine pump.

And that can mean:
A blocked pump
Water not draining
An unhappy washing machine
And potentially an unnecessary repair bill!

Our tip: Before washing school shirts, check the collars and remove any loose/stiffening inserts if they are designed to come out.

A few seconds checking your school uniform could save you a whole lot of hassle!

And remember… if your washing machine decides it’s had enough of school uniform too, you know who to call!

Is your fridge struggling to keep cold? We’re getting loads of calls about this at the moment!

With the warmer weather, your fridge has to work much harder — but before you panic, here are a few quick things to check:

Make sure the temperature is set between 3–5°C
Check the door seals are clean and closing properly
Don’t overfill it — cold air needs space to circulate
Make sure vents inside aren’t blocked
Let hot food cool before putting it in

Sometimes it’s a simple fix… but if you’ve checked all of the above and it’s still not cooling properly, give Suddies a call 📞

These all one dishwasher tablets,only have the minimum amount of salt and rinse aid.
This is why you need to add it yourself.
Salt softens your water; rinse aid stops your glassware from looking faded.

Important Update – We're Moving in September

Dear Customers,

After many years at our current premises, we wanted to let you know that from September, Suddies Domestic Appliance Centre will be moving.

Unfortunately, with the continuing increase in rent and business rates, it is no longer financially viable for us to remain at our current location.

Our new postal address will be:

Please note: This is a postal address only. Customers cannot visit this address or drop off appliances.

The good news is that our appliance sales and repair service will continue as normal. We will still be repairing and supplying domestic appliances, but we will no longer be able to accept vacuum cleaners or other appliances brought to us by customers.

If you require a repair, please contact us first, and we'll be happy to advise you on the best way to proceed.

We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for your continued support over the years. Your custom means a great deal to us, and we look forward to continuing to help you from our new base.

🤔 What's Wrong Wednesday!

Can you spot what's wrong with this freezer?

The clue is... It's not supposed to look like an ice rink! ⛸️

This freezer has become over-frozen. One common cause is that the freezer door has been left slightly open, allowing warm, moist air to get inside. That moisture freezes and quickly builds up into thick layers of ice.

✅ What should you do?

✔️ Switch the freezer off.
✔️ Remove your food and keep it somewhere cold while you defrost it.
✔️ Leave the door open and allow all the ice to melt naturally.
✔️ Once it's completely dry, switch it back on and let it reach temperature before putting your food back.

🚫 Never use knives, screwdrivers or sharp objects to chip away the ice, as it's very easy to damage the freezer and turn a simple problem into an expensive repair.

If your freezer keeps icing up even after a full defrost, it could be a sign of a faulty door seal, thermostat or another issue.

Keep Your Washing Machine Running Like New!

A little maintenance goes a long way and can help keep your washing machine fresh and working efficiently.

✔️ Leave the door open after each wash to allow it to dry.
✔️ Wipe the rubber door seal regularly to remove trapped dirt and moisture.
✔️ Run a hot maintenance wash (around 90°C) once a month using a washing machine cleaner.
✔️ Remove and clean the detergent drawer and the cavity behind it.
✔️ Check and clean the pump filter every few months to help prevent blockages.

It's not just washing machines, ovens and dishwashers we look after... we also help keep your vacuum cleaner performing at its best!

Just look at the difference between these before and after photos. 👀✨

Over time, dust, pet hair and everyday debris build up inside the dust container and floor head. This can reduce suction, make your vacuum work harder and even shorten its lifespan.

Suddies Tip:
Empty the bin after every few uses.
Wash filters regularly (always allow them to dry completely before refitting).
Remove hair and thread from the brush bar to keep it spinning freely.

A little maintenance goes a long way and can help keep your vacuum cleaning like new!

There's nothing better than hearing that we've been able to help our customers – even when it means they don't need to book a repair.

This week's reviews say it all...

One customer called because their washing machine wasn't taking in water. After talking them through a few simple checks over the phone, including cleaning the filter, their machine was working perfectly again – saving them the cost of a call-out.

Another customer was advised that repairing their appliance wasn't cost-effective. Instead of carrying out an unnecessary repair, we gave honest advice about replacing it.

At Suddies, we'll always tell you the truth. If we can save you money, we will. If your appliance can be repaired, we'll do our very best to get it back up and running.
