I created Barks & Bunnies sat on my sofa in 2013. Since then there have been borrowed dining tables, the odd small desk, a laptop on my knee - but never a proper space to land.

I have hypermobility. It's something I've lived with for my whole life - and if I'm honest, something I've quietly ignored for most of it and at best just misunderstood. This week I decided to do something about that.

So we built a desk. A Flexispot E7 Pro 2026 sit-stand, assembled by Leigh at speed apparently 😉 - the dogs and kids made regular appearances to help.

This is my new workspace. I'll keep you updated on how it goes.

What if we led with curiosity instead of judgement?

When your dog barks at something you can't see or hear - what if you paused for a moment and wondered? Their hearing reaches four times further than ours. Their nose experiences the world in a way we can barely imagine - up to 100,000 times more sensitive than our own. They are living and experiencing a version of this moment we will never fully know. When your rabbit thumps and disappears into the corner - they felt something. A vibration, a shadow, a shift in the air. Something real to them, even if it is invisible to us.

But if we slow down, get curious, and give it space, we might share just a glimpse of how extraordinary they are.

Aren't we lucky to share our lives with all these incredible beings who offer us so much.

To me, every post I make is a piece of artwork. Each one like a drawing on a canvas.

Not created with a sketch pad and pencil, but always made with my heart and my soul.

But it's a canvas that doesn't try to follow the rules, and the risk of that carries something where though I can hold my head high I also know it means my beautiful business could remain unseen.

But this world I have created with Barks & Bunnies never was, and never will be a place designed to keep you addicted to a system that can wreck lives.

I'm a normal, honest person. I happen to stock what I believe are great products that at the right moments can benefit others.

And I'm tired. Tired of being told to spike your dopamine. To heap yet more pressure onto people who already have enough.

What happened to a good shop, selling good stuff, being enough?

It is enough. It always was.

I'll just write stories worth finding. And trust that you'll find me.

This morning I got up to make a cup of tea and came back to find Orla had stolen my seat. Settled in. Completely at home. Watching Animal Park.

Genuinely watching it. Tigers. Lemurs. Absolutely riveted.

I wanted to capture that moment. I really did.

Instead I got this.

And honestly? I don't mind at all. Because that's her. And I love that she steals my seat. I love that she watches tigers with complete amazement. I just love that she is exactly, entirely herself.

On the days when everything feels like a lot - she's always just her. And somehow that's always enough.

This is us. 🐾
