✨ From Wax to One-of-a-Kind Jewellery ✨

There’s so much more to creating a piece of handmade jewellery than the finished sparkle you see. ✨

It all starts with the wax work, carefully shaping each unique design by hand. Then comes spruing, investing and casting — where a little patience, skill and sometimes a few crossed fingers are involved! 🤞😂

Once cast, the real transformation begins… cleaning, filing, refining and polishing every tiny detail until the piece finally reveals itself.

And then comes my favourite part — taking something I created from a piece of wax and presenting the finished, one-of-a-kind jewellery piece. ❤️

Nothing is mass produced. Every piece is designed, handmade and finished in my studio in Hampshire, UK, making each one completely unique.

From wax → casting → polishing → finished treasure ✨

Eltikki studio is looking forward to taking part in Hampshire Open Studio's.

The Studio will be open 10am - 4pm from Saturday 22nd - Sunday 30th. However the studio will be closed on Wednesday 26th.

A little sneak peek of some of the new jewellery from my Hidden Treasures Collection — and what better way to reveal it than hidden amongst the bubbles! 🫧

Inspired by the natural beauty and tiny treasures you discover when rock pooling, each piece has been lovingly designed and handmade in my studio on the shores of the Solent in Lee-on-Solent.

Every piece is unique, made to capture those beautiful, imperfect shapes and textures found in nature. 🌊🐚✨

The joys of manufacturing! 🙈

When your carbon crucible breaks halfway through melting 30g of gold, you have no choice but to go back to the old-school method of melting by hand while transferring the invested flask from the kiln to the casting machine.

It wasn't easy... but it worked! 💪✨

Just another reminder that handmade jewellery is full of challenges, but the results are always worth it.

After a hectic two weeks in the studio, dealing with repairs, wax creations, casting, an exploding carbon crucible, and electrics blowing, I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks being a little more chilled.

There are still plenty of jobs ahead: around 80 cast pieces to clean up, five commissions to finish, and preparations to make for Hampshire Open Studios, which starts on 22nd August.

Today, however, I took some much-needed time to rest. I sat by the ocean for a little energy healing, enjoyed the peace of the sea, and spent some time blackberry picking. A perfect reminder to slow down, recharge, and appreciate the simple things before diving back into the studio.

I hope you enjoy a sneak peak at the new one-of-a-kind pieces launching for Hampshire Open Studios.

Following on from yesterday's post, I'm devastated to say that the gold cast failed due to a vacuum issue and the electrics blowing 🙈

Thankfully, the silver cast worked beautifully. However, with the gold cast, I lost four wax rings and a bespoke collet.

These are the realities of handmade jewellery. Nothing I create is mass-produced; every piece is designed and handcrafted in my studio in Lee-on-Solent. There are always highs and lows along the way, and sometimes things don't go to plan — but that's all part of the journey.

Today, I've remade one of the ring waxes and the collet wax for three gorgeous Ocean Diamonds, and I'm looking forward to getting them back into production.

Behind every finished piece is a story, and sometimes that story includes a few setbacks before the magic happens ✨
