Doomscrolling and outrage-driven feeds train your brain to expect the worst-case version of everything, because that’s what gets served to you. It’s not a neutral read on reality — it’s a curated one. Cutting that down does more for cynicism than any mindset shift.

Practice specific gratitude, not vague positivity. - Life is good” doesn’t touch cynicism.
Naming one actual, specific thing that went right today does, because it’s evidence, not a slogan.

Let yourself be disappointed sometimes.

Part of what feeds cynicism is a fear of being let down again. But refusing to hope so you can’t be hurt also means you can’t be surprised, delighted, or moved. The armour blocks the good stuff too.

Try to Spend enough time around someone who still expects good things and means it, and it starts to feel possible again — not naive, just possible.

Everyone had an opinion about who I should be.

They decided who I should be before I even figured it out myself. What I should do. Where I should be by now. Who I should’ve become.

Nobody asked what I was carrying. They just handed me a version of me that fit *their* expectations.

And you know what that feels like? Being measured by people who never walked your road.

Jesus said in Matthew 7: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged.”

He wasn’t just talking to the people judging. He was talking to the ones who’ve been *on the receiving end* too. Because the fix isn’t judging them back. It’s remembering that only One person gets to define you, and He already called you His.

So if you’ve been living under everyone else’s opinion, hear this: you don’t owe anyone the version of you they invented.
