Dear Kippax Community,

Some of you may have seen recent Facebook posts regarding new car park measures at Co-op Kippax. We apologise for any confusion caused by errors in the original signage, including the absence of a clear date for these changes to take effect.

To clarify, these measures will be implemented on February 5th, 2024. Everyone can enjoy one hour of free parking, regardless of shopping with us – no ticket required; our cameras will track your entry and exit. Alternatively, spending £20 or more in-store grants you up to 3 hours of free parking. Parking charges apply to non-shoppers, detailed on Horizon Parking signage in the car park.

These measures aim to discourage car park misuse, not generate revenue. A dedicated warden will periodically ensure proper use of disabled and parent/child bays. People will not be fined if they are using the recycling banks but would still have to adhere to the measures as detailed above.

We understand there may be differing opinions, but we are committed to our community. Our ongoing support includes food and monetary donations to Kippax Pantry, Globe Not For Profit, and local breakfast clubs. Over the years, we’ve contributed thousands to causes in Kippax and will continue supporting community fundraising activities.

We recognise the importance of community input in decisions that affect us all. While the car park measures have been agreed upon and will be implemented as outlined, we welcome your valuable feedback. Your thoughts and concerns matter to us, and we encourage you to share them below. Your input will help us better understand the community's perspectives and address any questions you may have. We appreciate your understanding and continued engagement in shaping the shared spaces we all value.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely, Co-op Kippax.

I love to hear about people in the local community working together and doing something interesting.
Local girls Terry, Angie and Kath from the Kippax COOP taking up the challenge to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 12 hours or under. 26 miles of hard walking. They all completed it. Angie wanted to raise money for the poor people of her province in a place called Mizoram in India.
Kath bears the pain and inconvenience of her husband liking a radio related hobby so she took a radio and activated three summits
(Transmitted a signal) with a response from a Kippax guy 60 miles away and another 90 miles away in South Yorkshire, all on a low power handheld walkie-talkie.
Thank you to the girls efforts and organising this adventure 🙂 .
Thanks to the COOP staff that sponsored them.
The last picture is at the Station Inn Ribblehead , Kath having a celebration drink.
