Are you a bird lover? If so, this is the event for you! We're delighted to have Charlie Bingham joining us on the 15th of April at 7pm to talk about her new book, The Life-Affirming Magic of Birds!

This is a book that will make you look up. Whether it’s a brief encounter with a friendly robin or a curious wood pigeon perched on your windowsill, everyone has a bird story. Join nature and wildlife enthusiast Charlie Bingham as she travels the length and breadth of the UK, searching for oystercatchers on rooftops and peregrines on cathedral spires. Get inspired to look up and become part of the awe-inspiring world that exists above us.
In The Life-Affirming Magic of Birds, writer and conservationist Charlie Bingham opens your eyes to the fascinating and diverse world of birds and nature. Have you ever heard an unfamiliar birdsong and asked yourself where it came from? Or felt inspired by the stoicism of trees in difficult times? If so, then this is the book for you. Join Charlie on this essential journey of discovery, and learn how nature can offer a way to engage with your surroundings for anyone who wants to experience it.

In this beautiful, captivating book, you’ll discover an alternative way to appreciate nature. Through twelve insightful lessons, you’ll see the power that nature has to help us through turbulent times. If you’ve ever struggled to find motivation to get through the daily grind, this book reveals how birds—and the simple act of noticing nature—can guide us through even the most challenging moments.

To celebrate the release of this wonderful picture book by .worsley we are holding 2 interactive story times where you can make your own sculptures! (out of plasticine!)
Join us at 11:30am and 1:30pm where we will read Henry The ARTistic Dog and then create your own wonderful art!

We have another exciting event to announce!

On the 6th of March we will have the wonderful Lindsey Burrow with us who will be in conversation with Barrie McDermott about her book Take Care: A Memoir of Love, Family & Never Giving Up.

A working mother of three young children Lindsey Burrow who has inspired the nation through her selfless commitment to husband Rob Burrow (CBE), the rugby league legend she has cared for full time since his motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.

Told in her characteristically humble, charming and inspirational style, Take Care is Lindsey's life-affirming memoir in which she shares her honest experiences of finding strength in the good and the bad times and is a rousing call to action, for us all as a society to take better care of one another.

Tickets are available in our shop and on our website - www.waterstones.com/events

Our 2025 events programme is about to get into full swing!

First up, we have A.T. Qureshi joining us on the 21st of January to celebrate the release of her debut cosy romantasy, ‘The Baby Dragon Cafe’!

Join the activist and author Ed Winters on the 22nd of January as he discusses his new book ‘How to Argue With a Meat Eater’

The 29th of January brings us the wonderful Jennie Godfrey to talk about our Waterstones Fiction Book of the Month, ‘The List of Suspicious Things!’ This is such a special book and is also set right here in Yorkshire.

Starting February off on the 5th we’re welcoming Sairish Hussain to talk about ‘Hidden Fires. A multigenerational family story which deftly weaves in the tragic events of Partition and the Grenfell Tower fire, ‘Hidden Fires’ is a sweeping tale of resilience.

On the 11th of February we will have Lisa Carter joining us to celebrate the release of her debut, ‘Six Poppies’! ‘Six Poppies’ is a sweeping romance about the trauma of war and how love can bring us back from the darkest of places.

David Barnett will be joining us on the 12th of February to talk about his brand new book, ‘Scuttler’s Cove’. This chilling, unputdownable folk horror is not one to be missed!

Next, Nir Arielli will be joining us on the 13th of February to talk about ‘The Dead Sea: A 10,000 Year History. This book is a human history of one of the planet’s most iconic lakes, and the civilizations that surrounded its shores.

The 19th of February will see Daniel Sellers joining us to launch his new book, ‘The Lollipop Man’! This is an excellent Yorkshire-based crime novel!

Next up, we have Kat Dunn and Jennifer Saint joining us on the 20th of February to talk about ‘Hungerstone’! ‘Hungerstone’ is a reclaiming of the le***an vampire trope and an atmospheric, feminist re-telling of the tale which inspired Dracula, Carmilla.

On the 26th of February, Linda Green will be launching her new book, ‘The Woman with All the Answers’, a wise, funny and inspiring book for fans of Clare Pooley and Mike Gayle.

Lastly (for now), we have TV’s Nanny Amies (aka Laura Amies) joining us on the 12th of March to talk about her new book, ‘The Toddler Survival Guide’!
