**Meet our creative team**

Anita Adams - Director of Salt the musical

Anita Adams - Artistic Director has spent over 25 years directing, choreographing and designing across professional, amateur and community theatre, building a reputation for turning ambitious ideas into fully-realised productions and working closely with companies, casts and communities to shape and stage their own stories.

She is co-founder and owner, with Matt Stirk, of Show Ready, a theatrical services, production and design company. Her work there includes "Coffee After Therapy" (Seven Arts Leeds, Watford Fringe Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival) and "68: The Musical" (Yorkshire tour), alongside two new musicals currently in development, "Salt" and "Ratcatcher".

As Artistic Director of Leeds Young Creatives (formerly Leeds Youth Opera), Anita leads a company of over 40 young people and has directed productions including "Children of Eden", "Seussical the Musical", "Matilda Jr.", the new musical "Shackleton", and the upcoming "Whistle Down the Wind", among many others.

She has a long-standing association with Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan Society, where her directing credits include "Titanic the Musical", "Chess", "Sunday in the Park with George", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Sweeney Todd" and "Guys and Dolls".

An award-winning director, Anita's work has earned numerous accolades from the Leeds City Arts Guild and the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre, including for "Chess", "Sunday in the Park With George", "Sweeney Todd", "Guys and Dolls", "La Bohème" and "West Side Story".

She has a long association with musical director of Salt, Timothy Allen, with whom she first worked thirty years ago, and has collaborated with him on numerous productions since.

SHOW READY HQ IS SO FULL OF EXCITEMENT THIS WEEK!

1. Salt the Musical rehearsals are going so well and we are very exited to bring this beautiful story home to Saltaire next month!

2. We were delighted to visit with the renowned Utopia Theatre this week to start discussing a new venture with them.

3. We have been missing Phillip Henderson and Michael E Ward so we return to Ratcatcher the Musical next steps chats tomorrow!

4. Ani A Art is planning and beginning her next exhibition 'Journey on... Perhaps'

5. Performance through song classes back in full swing

6. Matt is inundated with building rehearsal cube builds

On Saturday 17 October, the extraordinary story of Titus Salt comes to life through an original new musical.

'Salt The Musical' tells the story of the man behind Saltaire — his ambition, his vision, his successes and the people whose lives were transformed by what he created.

And we're performing it **in Saltaire itself**, at the beautiful Victoria Hall.

What a gorgeous afternoon! Ani A Art delivering a fun and friendly class at the wonderful Ankave coffee and cocktails. Each participant chose one of Ani's pieces to reimagine and boy o boy were the finished pieces gorgeous! Huge congratulations artists wonderful work. You all pushed your boudaries, learnt new things ansld created something to be proud of. Please do feedback how your session was and look out for the next one. X###x

RATCATHCHER THE MUSICAL WORLD PREMIERE.

What can be said about such a magical week? Last Friday, after a lot of work and prep, Ratcatcher made its world premiere at the Carriageworks Theatre. This show is on a journey, after a one act workshop in January, a rewrite and additional material added through the beginning of the year to a full workshop production last week, it is our belief that this is a special piece that we are now ready to move forward.

It is an absolute honour and priveledge to be trusted with a new work. When it comes from the calabre of professionals such as Philip Henderson and Michael E. Ward, even more so.

Here, we know how to develop and test new work, how to produce, present and imagine musicals to show off potential and allow the work to shine.

How lucky we are that our Artistic Director, Anita Adams - Artistic Director, is also the Director of Leeds Youth Opera. 30 of those young people joined us for intense solo rehearsals and then the whole cast came together for a week long professional process to put on the show. To say they pulled this off would be an understatement. Their achievements are nothing short of remarkable. Such brilliant young people.

And now we move on, taking on board the audience feedback and we start to create the first professional production for next year!

Huge thanks and reepect to the fabulous Maestro Seán Gleeson to all the chaperones especially, Emma Smith, Justine Massie, Shelley Everson, Richard Edwards, Georgia Louise Dennis, Holly Smith and Janice Whitehead.
