Anita Adams - Director of Salt the musical
Anita Adams - Artistic Director has spent over 25 years directing, choreographing and designing across professional, amateur and community theatre, building a reputation for turning ambitious ideas into fully-realised productions and working closely with companies, casts and communities to shape and stage their own stories.
She is co-founder and owner, with Matt Stirk, of Show Ready, a theatrical services, production and design company. Her work there includes "Coffee After Therapy" (Seven Arts Leeds, Watford Fringe Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival) and "68: The Musical" (Yorkshire tour), alongside two new musicals currently in development, "Salt" and "Ratcatcher".
As Artistic Director of Leeds Young Creatives (formerly Leeds Youth Opera), Anita leads a company of over 40 young people and has directed productions including "Children of Eden", "Seussical the Musical", "Matilda Jr.", the new musical "Shackleton", and the upcoming "Whistle Down the Wind", among many others.
She has a long-standing association with Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan Society, where her directing credits include "Titanic the Musical", "Chess", "Sunday in the Park with George", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Sweeney Todd" and "Guys and Dolls".
An award-winning director, Anita's work has earned numerous accolades from the Leeds City Arts Guild and the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre, including for "Chess", "Sunday in the Park With George", "Sweeney Todd", "Guys and Dolls", "La Bohème" and "West Side Story".
She has a long association with musical director of Salt, Timothy Allen, with whom she first worked thirty years ago, and has collaborated with him on numerous productions since.
