The 2025 North Leeds Charity Beer Festival raised £16,500 for local Leeds charities. Organised by the Rotary Club of Roundhay, the event combined beer, live music, and family fun, supporting youth projects, community centres, hospices, and local social initiatives across Leeds and beyond.

🎶 Music, Memories, and Meaningful Connections 🎶

​There is nothing quite like the power of a favorite song to unlock a cherished memory.

​At the Rotary Club of Roundhay, we believe in the power of conversation and the magic of music. Through our "Desert Island Discs" initiative, our members and volunteer friends have been visiting local care homes to do more than just play music—we’re here to listen.

​How it Works:

​The Visit: We sit down with residents to hear their stories—their backgrounds, families, careers, and interests.

​The Discovery: During these chats, we explore the soundtrack of their lives. What songs moved them? What melodies remind them of home?

​The Performance: We return to the home to host a dedicated session, playing those hand-picked tracks and celebrating the residents' unique lives.
​Earlier today, we had a wonderful time with the residents at Elmwood Care Home in Leeds!

​📸 The photo above captures the joy from our session at Gledhow Care Home last week. It is truly a privilege to engage with our local community in such a personal way. Seeing the smiles and hearing the stories behind the songs is truly rewarding.

Hi, I am championing for Martin House Children’s Hospice and they are having a fundraiser today and tomorrow. Each pound raised will be matched.

Martin House does great work and is not Government funded. They rely on donations from the general public and businesses.

The services they provide are respite care, emergency care, care in the home and hospice, end of life care and bereavement support.

They provide family - led hospice care free of charge for children and young people with life limiting illnesses.
