"I've been a beekeeper since 1998 and currently look after around 60 colonies of bees, within a 10 mile radius of the village of Leedstown near Hayle. Over the years I have acquired extensive knowledge and experience in the craft of bee keeping, and I love to share my passion and enjoyment of the bees with people. One of the ways I do that is through my business - Bee Special Cornwall. I value nat
ure and its diversity highly, and always endeavour to carry out my craft in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Most of my summertime is spent working with the bees, with my main aim being to keep the bees healthy and thus create a good honey crop. I sell my honey in various forms and numerous products of the hive, such as beeswax candles, furniture polish, candle rolling kits, salves and balms. Remarkably its taste reflects the flora of the area surrounding the hive. This means subtle variations in flavour, colour an texture depending on what apiary that honey has come from. In Cornwall we are blessed with multi-floral honey, predominantly wildflower, clover and bramble - quite exquisite. To me it tastes evocatively of summer sunshine....." - Tamsin Harris
