SUNDAY 9th MARCH 2025-GUEST NIGHT with
BEN ROBERTSON
We take great pleasure in announcing that our next Guest Artist at The Raven Folk Club is Singer/Guitarist/Fiddler extraordinaire Ben Robertson. Ben has surely acquired a formidable reputation far beyond his beginnings as one of the most talented young players on our local folk scene. He now regularly gigs at folk clubs and festivals all over the country.
fRoots magazine described him as, “a prodigious young Britfolk guitarist” which only starts to do justice to a remarkably accomplished musician who is, apart from being a guitar virtuoso also a fine fiddler and singer with a repertoire of songs and tunes drawn from a wide range of musical genres. His superb 2022 album, ‘Rosewood’ perhaps unsurprisingly to those of us who have been following Ben’s career closely, garnered excellent reviews.
As stated above Ben is appearing on Sunday 9th March, admission is £8-00 and start time is, as usual 8-30pm with doors at 8-00pm. You can buy tickets (or strictly-speaking secure a seat or seats) directly from Debbie Lee at the next two Singers’ Nights at the RFC (23rd Feb. and 2nd March respectively) or contact us via this page if you’re not able to make it down to the club in person. Once again we have two fabulous concerts for you to enjoy – both held in the stunning All Saints Church with it’s beautiful acoustics. One in the afternoon, at 2.30 pm, features Full House, The Love Music Trust Young Folk Ensemble, SykesMartin and Virginia Kettle’s Rolling Folk. The evening concert at 8 pm features Cobalt Tales, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne and SykesMartin.

There will be a teatime ceilidh at 7 pm with Full House and caller Baz Parkes, preceded by another display from Dawnswyr Delyn, and a further music & song session to round off the evening.

A mixture of innovation for different reasons.
1. Wittner fine tuning pegs, give the advantage of very easy tuning and excellent stability whilst simultaneously improving sound production due to fine tuners being removed from the tail piece.
2. Cellists often have problems with the head of tuning pegs making contact with the left hand side of their head whilst playing. The string vision tuning system allows for the peg heads to be removed, which in turn creates more space between the scroll and the players head.
It may also allow for more comfort whilst playing as the shoulder elbow and wrist can be positioned differently; posture can be improved for certain people, poor posture often leads to pain.
