This is a post from Neil Collingwood, Local Historian and publisher of local books:

Assuming that I am well enough, I will be in the Trestle Market again on Friday with a stall of local history books, a stall on the Saturday Collector's Market (only this coming Saturday, not regularly) and also at the Sunday Supplement Market this Sunday. Come and buy your Christmas/Birthday Gifts and have a chat if I am looking glum and lonely. I will have a significant number of new books at much lower than cover prices.

Neil will be selling many of the books that I have been advertising on this page.

The markets referred to above are all in Leek. The Totally Locally - Sunday Supplement market is well worth a visit anyway with over 80 stalls, entertainment, great pubs, coffee houses, restaurants and shops as well.

Please message me for more details.

I have just come upon a half box of 'Policing the Potteries'. this great book published in 2002 and written and researched by Alf Tunstall and Jeff Cowdell it details the Intrigue, corruption, drunkeness, bravery, exemplary conduct, illicit liaisons and humorous anecdotes about the policing of North Staffordshire from the 1`870'2 through to the amalgamation of the City and County force in 1968. With a foreword by the then Chief Constable J. W. Giffard Q.P.M., B.A. (Hons). it contains some excellent photograps and illustrations. With a cover price of £17.95 I am prepared to offer the remaining few books at £12 +P&P if you want one posting out to you.

I still have a few of this book available if anyone locally would like one.

It is a fitting tribute to the Great War dead of Leek and a permanent record of who these men and boys were, where they lived and worked and what happened to them. It contains over 100 photographs of the casualties along with background illustrations and maps. This book puts real people to the long list of names on Leel's Nicholson War Memorial.

I still have copies of the following books available if anyone is interested, but please no more time wasters.Message me...

It's the centenary of the end of the First World War in November and I still have a few of this book available if anyone locally would like one.

It is a fitting tribute to the Great War dead of Leek and a permanent record of who these men and boys were, where they lived and worked and what happened to them.
