We will be supporting Michael, a local man in his attempt to run the London Marathon in April 2027; with a collection bucket for him in the shop. If you're able to donate to this great cause please pop in. The collection bucket will be on counter for your donations or loose change. Michael is hopefully going to pop down with the mannaquin he will be carrying at the marathon so we will take some further photos. To donate directly just type "Carrying Tom" on the go fund me website.
Here's a bit more about Michael and his fundraising efforts:
I’m Michael Walker, and in the 2027 London Marathon I’ll be attempting to set a Guinness World Records title by carrying a 65kg mannequin in memory of my brother, Tom, who weighed just 65kg when he sadly lost his life to bone cancer at only 16 years old.
The mannequin represents me carrying my brother with me every step of the way—a powerful symbol of the love, loss, and memories that never leave us. Just as I’ll carry that 65kg throughout the marathon, my family has carried the weight of losing Tom every single day. This challenge is my way of honouring his life, keeping his memory alive, and showing that love never fades.
I’m taking on this world record attempt not for recognition, but to shine a brighter spotlight on bone cancer and the urgent need for more research. I’m raising funds for Bone Cancer Research Trust to support the development of kinder, more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure. Every donation also helps provide hope, support, and information to children, young people, and families facing the devastating reality of bone cancer.
Together, we can honour those we’ve lost, stand beside those still fighting, and help create a future where no family has to experience this heartbreak.
65kg. Every Step for Tom. Every Pound for Hope
