Paw print melts, to be supplied in packs of 3

This is an idea to raise funds for something close to my heart, and that is stray cats in Cyprus. Rescuing one myself in 2018, a kitten just a few weeks old who was close to death, we called her Xena, seeing first hand the dire situation there, I wanted to do something to help.
There are numerous volunteers all trying their best to feed, neuter and spey, obtain vet treatment and find homes for the millions of cats and kittens abanonded every year on the streets by locals.
These innocent animals often succumb to weather through numerous illnesses, or end up being killed by locals who will purposely put down poisoned food. Others will go and bash them to death for fun, there is no such thing as pet charities in Cyprus, as there, they see animals as having no worth, so any help I can provide to these people who often struggle to pay from their own pockets to feed or treat these innocent creatures will be a positive.
These will be a side range and exclusive to the main Huffy Hog brand, all items are handpoured individually and will be fully insured and clp compliant

02/12/2020

Well it’s been trying times for everyone of late , I had hoped to be ready to launch some Christmas fragrances before doing a full launch in the New Year ,the pandemic has caused havoc globally ,supplies are in limited availability, wax I was using was out of stock for a while which meant having to purchase one I had never used before ,so it was starting from scratch all over again ,but now the weather has changed and it’s causing issues with production, temperatures have dropped and this affects how the wax is setting, and I have not been happy with how it looks ,that along with curing and testing times ,it just does not seem feasible to try and rush and get things out that I’ve not had time to fully test, because I want people to be happy with their purchase not disappointed

WAX MELTS

WHAT ARE THEY ?

Wax melts are basically a candle without a flame, they work by the fragranced cube being heated from below and releasing fragranced vapour into the air.
Wax melts will have a stronger fragrance than a candle that has been made with the same fragrance and percentage of fragrance oil due to the difference in the way the fragrance is released.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BURN A WAX MELT ?

There is a choice of 2 options here, you can opt for a traditional burner powered by a non scented tealight candle , or the more modern option which is favoured by people with young children due to the lack of flame are the plug in warmers.
Bear in mind that the plug in warmers do not provide the same strength of fragrance as a tealight and with some waxes they may not be powerful enough to melt the wax.

Be careful when choosing a tealight burner, a lot of burners are designed for oil and not wax melts , a wax melt burner will have a deep dish and overall has more height between tealight and dish.
As a minimum wax burners should have at least 10cm between the tealight and the melting dish.
If you use something with less height, your fragrance will be very strong initially but will soon burn off and leave you smelling nothing,or a burned waxy smell, this is not a fault with the melt ,it is due to the wax being heated to too high a temperature and allowing the fragrance to burn off much faster than it should.
You should never use a tea light that burns longer than 4 hours for a wax melt.

THE VOLUME OF WAX HASNT DECREASED?

Melts, unlike candles do not use the wax as a fuel that burns down with each use.
The melted wax pool will remain the same throughout the burn from start to when all the fragrance has been used. When a tealight melts the wax cube the fragrance is released by a vapour ,you may notice white mists rising from your dish, this is completely normal and is the sign of a good wax melt .

WHEN DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY MELT?

When you can no longer smell the fragrance anymore it is time to change your melt, you may do this by gently heating up a tealight to soften the melt so that it can be popped out the dish, or you may choose to completely let it melt and soak up the wax by paper towel, never empty wax down a drain as it can block pipes when it resets.

As always when using any product that has a flame you should not leave products unattended, also keep out of the reach of where it could cause harm to children and pets.

REED DIFFUSERS

Reed diffusers work by absorbing the fragranced oil up through tiny capillaries in the reeds and releasing the fragrance slowly into the air. A lot of people prefer them to candles as there is no flame and can be left unattended.

TO USE

To use your diffuser, wear gloves and unscrew the cap and remove the plastic bung, any spillages should be wiped up immediately, avoid placing your diffuser directly onto painted or polished surfaces as damage may occur,we always recommend placing your diffuser onto a coaster, and in an area away from children and pets.
Replace the screw cap and insert the reeds. For a subtle fragrance you may insert less than the 5 reeds provided ,the less reeds used the longer your fragrance oil will last, more reeds will allow for a stronger scent but will use up the oil faster.

WHERE SHALL I PLACE MY DIFFUSER?

Diffusers can be used anywhere in your home, please note that they work best in areas of high traffic, whereby people walking past will circulate the air around them and spread the fragrance around the room, reed diffusers are not designed to fill a whole room with fragrance in the way candles and melts do.
Some lighter fragrances work best in smaller rooms such as bathrooms, try to avoid placing your diffuser bottle in direct sunlight as this can speed up the evaporation of the oil.

HOW LONG WILL MY DIFFUSER LAST ?

This depends on many factors, how many reeds you use, placement, how warm your house is ( the warmer the room the more scent you will smell but it will use the oil up quicker) and if you flip the reeds regularly.
At Huffy Hog ,we use fibre reeds as they have been shown to clog with fragrance less than traditional bamboo reeds, fibre reeds generally do not need to be flipped for this reason ,but if you want to refresh them ,then you may flip them ,just remember to wear gloves to do so and wipe up any spillages.
In normal household testing ,we have found that using 5 fibre reeds are lasting approximately 12-14 weeks, however these were placed in areas away from direct sun , whereas one that was tested in a sunny area lasted 8 weeks.
Should you feel that your fragrance has started to diminish ,it can be due to household dust particles becoming trapped around the reeds ,in this case you may purchase a set of replacement reeds, and when your oil is finished you may purchase either a refill or try a completely new fragrance.

All our clp labels for individual fragrances are clearly fixed to our products and are also available as files to browse,on each product page

With proper usage reed diffusers are no more harmful than everyday cleaning products that are used in your home.
It is however wise to keep away from children and pets,as you would with any other chemical.
