DON'T make my mistakes!!! 😰
Let me be honest for a second, my first craft fair was underwhelming, BUT this gave me a great opportunity to observe what truly draws customers to a craft stall. Follow these 3 VITAL tips to ensure success at all your future markets!
1: Who doesn't love free things? 🆓
One of the best pieces ofadvice I got at my first craft fair was to give out freebies at your booth. A good example of this is if you sell creams you can give out small samples of your cream whilst explaining its healing properties and what sets you apart from other brands you can get at the store. This helps greatly with warming up your customers with the idea of purchasing your products. Even if you can't exactly give out free samples you can get stickers or sweets to give out while you explain what you have on offer.
2: NETWORK! NETWORK! NETWORK! 🌐
Networking at craft fairs can mean simply talking with and exchanging numbers with different stallholders, this is why it is important to keep lots of business cards with phone numbers on them. Show genuine interest in what others make and try and get involved in different ways. YOU CAN NOT BE MYSTERIOUS IN BUSINESS. Make it very easy to reach out to you. Not everyone uses Instagram, so know your audience and pander to the social media they use.
3: Have a hook at your booth 🪝
This is by far the most important thing I learnt at my first craft fair. If you offer a chance for your customers to win something (especially through a fun game) they are much more likely to purchase from your booth. For example, at my booth I had a lucky dip that gave you the chance of winning a whole 50% off any plushie but you also had the chance of winning 2 stickers. If you won 50% off any plushie, would you waste it? Another example of this is 2 for 1 sales or getting a free _ with every _. Sales are truly the KEY to a successful craft fair! 🔑
