I’m very conscious that the shop is looking a little empty after Christmas, but I’ve listed a couple of new pieces today including this impeccable and rare Cloisello Ware bowl planted with white Muscari dating between 1914/16 and clearly showing the influence of Art Nouveau and the influence of Japanese & Chinese design on Staffordshire at the time.
As from next week the shop will begin to start filling up again with a lovely mixture of vintage, rustic, antique and the plain unusual and I’m looking forward to being able to start potting up all our dwarf narcissus and other bulbs.
All under the vintage tab up in the Linktree 🔗in the bio ☝️.

Cheerful day, cheerful me 🌞
Our hyacinth planters will start going out tomorrow and I’m thrilled to have more space in the greenhouse again - just so I can fill it all up again 😁 Also been racing around today collecting more clay pot lots - so all go here at Potting Shed HQ

I wrote today in our newsletter who proud I am of the sustainability of our potted plants. This gorgeous treacle-glazed terracotta dish filled with Muscari ‘White Dream’ I think is a good example: Love a big dish of potted up bulbs, don’t you? When the Muscari have finished flowering the bulbs can be planted out in the garden for next season and the pot used as a oven-to-table rustic casserole dish or maybe as a fruit bowl? Nothing single-use about anything, durable and enjoyable.
The little 50’s Royal Winton miniature planter with Muscari ‘Helena’ has actually been sitting on my desk with lipstick it! It’s so of it’s time - a whiff of Hollywood glamour to it - and a completely sentimental buy on auction - my husband did think I was mad this time 😇
Both can be found online 🔗up ☝️in the bio

Exquisite porcelain candy dish by Sampson Hancock in the ‘Dresden’ pattern which is considered a good example of the Aesthetic Movement c1870. I’m completely mad for the bamboo handles. Couldn’t resist planting it up with winter pansies! Available in the shop 🔗 up in the bio ☝️ tab ‘Vintage’.
The flash sale on our hyacinth bowls has been amazing and we only have a few left. The sale is on until Sunday but in truth I think we’ve nearly sold out. Thank you to everyone who helped us clear the greenhouse of our happy hydrangeas!

A lovely Susie Cooper bowl filled with winter pansies. Susie Cooper’s design often have an intimate, domestic feel to them and I enjoy her lightness of touch in her designs. ‘Persia’ is a particularly pretty example and this and the bowl is signed and dated 1963. Filled with winter pansies, I’ve just listed it online or you can DM me here 🤍

An exceptional Victorian hand-blown Bristol glass hyacinth forcer in the mintiest of conditions and a true collectors piece. I cannot get over how contemporary the design feels and what a good vase it makes 💚
We love sourcing pieces like this (the brief for this was two green Victorian forcers) so if you’re looking for anything in particular, please DM me and we can chat, I’m always on the look-out for pieces like this 💚

The only ‘business model’ that I have is to make things that I love to have in my own home and to always be original.
In another life I use to be a management consultant but I I’d be useless now as I’d only have two power points slides - ‘be yourself’ and ‘trust your instincts’. Not enough billable hours in those! 😂
White hyacinths in a lovely old square ironstone bowl which didn’t quite make it out the door.

Long May this glorious sunshine and blue skies continue - I feel like my productivity is about double that on a day like this compared to grizzle. I’ve potted and packed, and bid and bought. Very happy 🪴
These Sankey bowls are so perfect for bulbs - just love them.

The Victorian glass forcers looking pretty. There are a couple still in the shop and I’m hoping to restock shortly. They may not be one of life’s essentials, but they certainly bring a lot of pleasure…
