​Persian Roots: It all started with a medieval Persian treat called Luqmat al-Qadi ("The Judge's Morsel"), which found its way to India during the Mughal era.
​The Indian Evolution: Brilliant local chefs adapted the recipe, exchanging Mediterranean ingredients for rich mawa/khoya (milk solids) and infusing it with aromatic sugar syrups.
​What’s in a Name? "Gulab" comes from the Persian word for rose water, and "Jamun" refers to the dark, round Indian plum it resembles in shape and color!
​Fast forward to today, and no celebration, wedding, Diwali, or Eid is complete without these warm, syrup-soaked spheres of pure joy. 🎉
