Round 8 of the

I've been really sick when I've been running. Along with everything else I'm juggling, I'm in titration for ADHD meds which are making my heart and body go a bit wild.

My heart rate keeps spiking and it is making me sick, even though I 'feel' like I'm going really easy. I was super sick for 4 runs in a row and actually threw up ๐Ÿคฎ at both parkrun and a race last weekend, despite doing 12:30 mins miles ๐Ÿ™„

So, I'm watching my HR and as soon as it gets close to 170, I'm walking until it gets below 150, then jogging again. I managed 3 miles tonight without feeling sick. I do believe my body will get used to the stimulants and regulate itself in time. It's a learning curve and a journey. I'm seeing benefits iny focus and productivity at work. And I'm sleeping better at night and feeling less tired in the evening. So it's looking positive, if I can just teach my body that it isn't dying every time I exercise!

It couldn't have come at a better time, because my GNR is all about running slowly and knitting fast. But it does mean I am unable to do my usual hills and speed work which I miss.

Anyway, the scarf is progressing and it makes a highly effective sweat band ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yarn - purple mix is a hand dyed tencel nylon mix sock yarn I bought at Wool on the Exe 3 years ago ๐Ÿซฃ It is butter soft and I have long since lost the band so that's all I know. The solid grey is from Hobbii and is Twister Solid shade 127

I used 4mm needles throughout to get a gauge and drape I am happy with, and boy did it deliver!

The pattern is a test so I'm not sure how much I am allowed to say before it is released. It is wonderfully rhythmical and I found it a relaxing project when my head and heart have been elsewhere.

What a gorgeous little garment. See! I don't just knit and run. Sometimes I knit and sit in the garden. Sometimes I knit and watch telly. Sometimes I knit and attend zoom meetings and training. Sometimes I knit in the pub...

Yesterday's run/knit in the sun ๐ŸŒž

25/05/2026

How are you spending your bank holiday? It's an 'unwind' day for me (pun intended!).

I'm not doing any running, but will be knitting and crocheting for sure. I'm going to enjoy the garden and family time and be glad I exist.

Little reel of some recent running stitches for you...where else should I take my knitting? I do intend to do some parkrun tourism. Which parkruns would you like me to at?

Hope you all have a restful day and don't forget the sun screen ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿงฃ๐Ÿงถ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Don't forget this is all in honour of Hannah, my beautiful sister-in-law. Fundraising link here:

First Parknit this morning at the gorgeous Braunstone parkrun which is my home Parkrun in Leicester.

Definitely feeling I'm making some progress with the knitting, but yarn and needles need to be addressed.

Don't forget to vote on your favourite colours (see yesterday's post) so I can let the wonderful Wool Warehouse know what to send me ๐Ÿ™

I won't be parknitting next week as it is Hannah's funeral so we will be saying our last goodbyes and celebrating her life with family and friends.

All support of this venture will go to Neuroendocrine Cancer UK to help support other people affected by this dreadful disease in Hannah's memory.

World Record Attempt incoming!!! Sponsor me in my attempt to knit the longest scarf whilst running a half marathon at the GNR this September.

You can support by sharing the link, telling people about my adventure and of course any money in the pot would support an amazing but under-funded charity in their efforts to beat this terrible disease.

I'm doing it in honour of my beautiful sister in law Hannah who recently lost her battle and leaves a whole community devastated.

Thanks so much - I already know how much the running and crafting communities will want to get behind me in this!

Whimsy you NEED in your home/office/life RN!

Squashed animal coasters are having a moment and when a friend asked me to make one, I couldn't resist.

I free styled it and this is the second iteration.

I could do any animal really. I'll be adding a tongue to this frog.

Selling these for a tenner. - they are fiddly so take a bit of time, although I understand people don't want to pay an arm and a leg for small things.

This would make a great gift for pretty much any person and any occasion.

Let me know if you need this little bit of fun in your life! I expect these will sell fast, so I'll make a few to have on hand.

Which animal shall I do next?
