We stock a range of fiction, non-fiction, children's books, cookery, graphic novels and manga.

We’re delighted to welcome local children’s author Chrissie Lackey to BOOK on Saturday 7th November, from 3–4pm, for a special event celebrating her picture book, Splat the Pumpkin!🎃

Follow Splat on his journey as he dreams of taking part in the Big Pumpkin Pick. Just when he begins to doubt himself, a little bit of magic leads to a rather special surprise! This heartwarming tale celebrates kindness, acceptance and learning to believe in yourself 🧡

Bring the little ones along to enjoy a reading with Chrissie, ask her some questions and get their copy of Splat the Pumpkin signed!

Chrissie will also be visiting Pulford Lower School on Friday 6th November, so if your child attends the school and you miss out on getting a copy during her visit, don’t worry! You’ll have another chance to pick up a signed copy at BOOK on Saturday.

This Saturday, October 10th, we're celebrating National Bookshop Day along with the organisation Books Are My Bag.

And this year it's extra special, as 2026 has been declared the National Year of Reading too!

But why choose your local bookshop? Well aside from supporting your lovely local booksellers, it's because when you do, you're not just buying a book - you're supporting a local independent business, discovering brilliant new reads, getting expert recommendations and helping keep your high street full of character.

We can't thank you all enough for the support you've shown us here at BOOK Leighton Buzzard over the years, and hopefully we'll get to celebrate with you this Saturday.

We’re embracing the fallen leaves and change in the weather here at BOOK with our autumn window display!🍂

We’ve picked out some books that we think fit the mood of the season, with plenty of nature, crime and spooky vibes to get you in the autumnal spirit.

But don’t let the window fool you into thinking that’s all we have to offer — step inside to browse our full range of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, from cosy reads to creepy tales and everything in between!

Did you know that we run two book clubs here at BOOK?👀

Timeless Classics – our classic fiction book club – takes place on the first Monday every other month.

Other Worlds – our fantasy and sci-fi book club – takes place on the second Monday of every month, alternating between the two genres.

Both start at 6:30pm and are kindly hosted by The Bottle House!🍻

We’ve officially entered the ‘ber months, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier about it!🍂🎃

We’ve been stocking up on books that give us all the autumn vibes, from crime and mystery thrillers to fantasy and paranormal romance, with a bit of horror, children’s fiction and non-fiction thrown in for good measure.

If it’s dark, gothic or spooky, we’re here for it. Come and see what we’ve got on offer — the perfect excuse to curl up with a book as the nights draw in!

What a brilliant morning at Brooklands School with the hilarious Olaf Falafel!

Olaf gave the pupils a glimpse behind the scenes of his comedy, including some of his editing tricks — turning a squirrel sliding down a greased pole into a heroic climb to ‘You Raise Me Up’, and Donald Trump into Pingu 🐧

He showed everyone how to draw Spewnicorn and talked about the inspiration behind The Far-Out Five series, before introducing his latest adventure, Portal Loo Panic!🚽

Set on Snot Jelly Island, the new book is packed with the ridiculousness you’d expect from Olaf — and, naturally, there’s a portal loo involved.

A huge thank you to Brooklands School for having us, Olaf for being his wonderfully chaotic self, and the team at Penguin for supporting our shop and helping us bring authors and books into our local schools!

With the announcement of the Booker Prize shortlist coming in just a few weeks, and the winning book being announced on 9th November, we’ve been gradually adding some of the longlisted books to our shelves (including a signed copy of The End of Everything!).

There are some seriously exciting titles on this year’s longlist, and we’re looking forward to seeing which ones make it through to the final six 👀

We’ve finally got all of the Hunger Games books back in stock!🏹

Whether you want to complete your collection or fit in a reread (or a first read!) of the series before the Sunrise on the Reaping film comes out in November, we’re here to help you get your Hunger Games fix.

But don’t wait too long — they won’t be here forever!

(The eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that Catching Fire and Mockingjay have accidentally ended up in the wrong order… oops 😂 We promise we’re actually massive Hunger Games fans — we just apparently can’t put five books in the correct order!)
