💡 CEE JAY’S LOCAL APPLIANCE TIP

Anyone who has lived around Leighton Buzzard for a while will already know how hard our water is! If you’ve recently moved into one of the area’s many new homes, however, it may come as a surprise.

One old-fashioned laundry tip that still has some science behind it is adding a small amount of soda crystals to the wash.

Soda crystals soften the water, helping detergent work more effectively—particularly on towels, cottons, workwear and dog bedding.

Try approximately one level tablespoon and use the “soft water” amount of detergent shown on the packet. Don’t simply add soda crystals on top of a full dose of detergent—more product doesn’t always mean cleaner washing!

⚠️ Don’t use soda crystals on wool, silk or delicate fabrics, and always check the garment and appliance instructions first.

Why does the ECO programme take so long?

It’s easy to assume that a four-hour laundry programme must cost more than a quick wash—but usually the opposite is true.

The ECO programme saves energy by heating the water more gently and giving it longer to soak and clean. Heating water quickly uses far more electricity than simply allowing the programme more time.

So, if you’re not in a hurry:

✅ Choose ECO
✅ Wait for a reasonably full load
✅ Let the machine take its time

Longer doesn’t necessarily mean more expensive!

🍂 IS YOUR TUMBLE DRYER READY FOR WINTER?

As the weather changes, most of us start relying on our tumble dryers much more.

Most people only call an engineer when their tumble dryer breaks down.

This autumn, Cee Jay is offering a Winter Tumble Dryer Service & Check for £75 including VAT when booked from this Facebook post — normally £85.

We’ll actually open your dryer and:
• vacuum accessible lint and dust from inside the machine
• check filters and airflow
• inspect for obvious wear and signs of overheating
• check how the machine is running
• reassemble and test it

There’s another good reason to look after the dryer you already have. Traditional vented and conventional condenser tumble dryers are being phased out of the new-appliance market, so in future a straightforward like-for-like replacement may not be available.

If you have an older dryer that you’re happy with, keeping it well maintained could make a lot of sense.
