Naturally dried flowers, herbs, seed heads, foliage, fruits and berries can make fabulous designs of lasting value. I have designed two large floral displays for our Church, “Assumption of Our Lady and St. Therese,” in Presteigne.
I dried the flowers over many years. I have used different types, including spray roses, single-stemmed roses, beech foliage, hydrangea heads, Craspedia, Setaria grasses, and pond reeds, to name a few. It’s so satisfying when you take the time to dry your own flowers. It was a challenge to make both designs identical, as I simply dried flowers when I had them left over from flower festivals, competitions, and corporate work. Can you guess how many boxes of dried flowers I used?
