This months Books of The Month are a gorgeously eclectic mix!
Starting off with our Fiction of the month Lily King’s ‘Heart the Lover’ is a big hit with those who picked up Sally Rooney or Ann Patchett and want another emotional tale filled with love and missed chances and we’ve loved hearing about how engrossing people are finding the writing!
Then over in non-fiction we are raving about Annabel Streets gem of a book ‘The Walking Cure’ which is an easy read come rain or shine, for those looking to explore how to utilise their love of a neighbour hood walk in the best ways.
Our Fantasy book of the month is claimed by ‘The Raven Scholar’ by Antonia Hodgson which Lewes bookseller Ella-Mae called an ‘enthralling read that zings with twists and turns!’, perfect for those who loved mysteries like Voyage of the Damned or epic fantasy hits like The Priory of the Orange Tree.
Non-Fiction of the month is also claimed by the astute Architectural social commentary ‘The English House’ by Dan Cruickshank which is a fascinating foray into examining the homes that have housed the English across the last few decades.
‘Fair Play’ by Louise Hegarty is a genre-breaking entry as Thriller of the Month this month which fills the pages with revelations on both grief and a murder mystery that keeps you firmly in its grip as you turn the pages until the very last!
Moving to our younger customers now, over in the Young Adult space, we have ‘Best of All Worlds’ by Kenneth Oppel who balances a sci-fi dystopian teenage hell (i.e. stuck with only the parents for company and no wifi) with a sharp thrilling tone.
Our Children’s book of the month is one that honestly, is for all ages; Returning to the world of Lewis Carroll’s iconic Wonderland, is young Alyce, grand-daughter of the original Alice who traversed into the land of the Red Queen and Mad Hatter’s. Much loved author, explores new curiosities in ‘Alice With a Why’, featuring exquisite illustrations by Matthew Land that’ll have you bonding over those worlds we turn to over and over again.
A brilliant selection of must reads like these await your next visit into the bookstore here at Dial House.
