Day 2: me!

Hi, this is me, Sally, the face behind the grids. I'm a Lincoln based artist and fledgling potter.

I'm married to a fitness instructor (doesn't rub off 🤣) and I have 2 children and 4 grandchildren of my own plus 2 stepchildren and 4 step grandchildren. Never a dull moment!

I kept this quiet so far but I turned 60 last month (I'm aquarius) and I'm getting ready to fling myself out of an aeroplane soon, like you do ....

Day 1, branding

So, I'm not promising every day, but I'm gunna try and take part in this challenge and show up a bit more.

The name behind the brand, easy ... my sister (younger than me by 20 months) has called me sasa since she first began to talk. She couldn't pronounce my name (Sally) and so through her sasa was born.

The colours behind my brand represent the coast where I grew up. My favourite place to be is always at the coast, any coast. The aquas, blues, greys of the sea and skies and the golds of the sand. These are the colours I'm drawn to, along with other earthy tones with a weather-beaten washed out element to them.

I created my logo myself but for the life of me can I remember which logo creater app I used 🤷🏼‍♀️

Some of my little soap dishes are completely dry now and ready for their first firing. However, I won't be firing up the kiln just yet as I still have a lot more to make to fill it up and make it worthwhile.

So, I have more drying on the shelves and more to make. Thinking of egg cups next ....

These are just a selection of makes I'll be bringing with me, all made by my hands. There'll be clay earrings, hippy hoops, some framed prints of my artwork including the mini watercolour originals in necklace form, plus a selection of greeting cards.

Making coil pots with my grandchildren Benjamin and Alice.
They both got the hang of it very quickly and with only a little help from me (smoothing the ridges out) I think they did pretty well don't you?

Here's wearing my enamel drops. Especially thrilled as she's an accomplished jeweller and the fact she bought off me is very humbling.
