I thought my maternity leave would feel like a long time. I could not wait for nine to twelve months “off” work. I thought I’d remember all the little things but as my little boy very quickly approaches his third birthday I look back and think wow, where did those months of just us two go?
Without trawling through pictures on my phone, I don’t remember the little details. I have multiple gifted journals sitting on my shelves unused. I didn’t have the time, energy or brain space to fill in any of them consistently and then I feel guilty for not. All this has led to the creation of our new calendar. I want to make sure that every new mama has something to cherish at the end of that beautifully difficult year. Something that would record everything. Not just the usual celebrated milestones but every moment of the first year.
