Yesterday I dusted off my heat press, which hasn’t been used for quite some time, to make T-shirts ready for tonight’s show.

As a parent of two teenage boys, I suspect wearing this around the house on a daily basis probably wouldn’t do any harm either 😂

I’m off to see with one of my besties and we are ridiculously excited. We’ve been counting down to this since the last tour.

Will we sing every word? Absolutely.

Will we spend the next few months being obsessed with Harry Styles again? Of course.

Will our families and friends have to listen to us relive every moment and will you guys have to watch every video we film for the foreseeable future? Also yes 😂

Turns out I’ve been accidentally training for this job my entire life.

For years my friends have been giving me a person’s name and telling me what they want to know. It rarely takes me long to come back with the answer. 🕵️‍♀️

The same skills that once helped me answer random questions now help me research businesses, understand audiences, spot opportunities, analyse content, and figure out what makes people stop scrolling.

Rather than random replies to friends, I’m now packaging my findings into content strategies, reel ideas and content plans designed to help businesses show up on Instagram.

It’s all for content creation these days. Honest. 😅

Pretty sure every friendship group has one person who does this. Let me know if that’s you! 🤣

These might seem like tiny things. A quick word of encouragement, a comment, a share or a recommendation, but these are the actions that can make a huge difference to a small business.

Over the years, this community has helped me grow to more than 15,000 followers, reach new customers, build friendships, create opportunities and even change the direction of my business.

This is because I chose to support other people and they chose to support me.

Every comment helps a post reach more people. Every share introduces a business to a new audience. Every recommendation helps to build trust. Every bit of encouragement you show here helps people to keep showing up.

Small businesses thrive when communities support each other and that’s something I’ve always loved about Instagram.

The connections I’ve made here, the encouragement, the conversations, the recommendations, the support and the friendships I’ve made have all played a huge part in helping my business grow.

What a perfect birthday. You can’t beat breakfast at , followed by a walk around the beautiful village and estate. Home for a couple of hours in the garden, then takeaway and fizz to round off the day. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Social media convinces us that going viral is the goal, but whilst that reel brought me around 1,000 followers, most of them weren’t my ideal customers. They’d seen a funny reel and hit follow. The reels that have helped my business most are the ones that speak directly to the people I actually want to work with.

If your reels are getting a couple of hundred views, please don’t dismiss that as insignificant. Imagine standing in a room with 200 people looking at you and your business. Most of us would be thrilled with that opportunity.

The same goes for follower growth. Most people, me included, don’t gain hundreds of followers every week. Growth is usually much slower than that. Some weeks you gain a few followers, some weeks none at all. That doesn’t mean your content isn’t working. People often need to see you consistently for weeks or even months before they decide to follow, enquire or buy.

The businesses that grow are the ones that keep turning up, refining their message and finding their people.

Every reel teaches you something, every post helps you understand your audience better and every piece of content builds familiarity and trust.

If you’re posting consistently, your views are steady and you’re learning what works for your audience, you’re probably doing far better than you think you are. The goal isn’t to become an overnight viral success. The goal is to become the person your ideal customer remembers when they’re ready to buy.
