Today is the summer solstice, the point on the wheel where we have the longest day and shortest night.

It is the point of peak nature, where light and energy has been increasing since the winter solstice and now nature is at its most potent and abundant, reaching its fullest expression.
From here nature starts to shift into a ripening and richening .

It is an invitation to celebrate the light, the abundance of nature, to anchor in to the seasons and to acknowledge the wheel always turns and seasons of light and dark are held in balance.
Solstice blessings 💫🙏

Join me for a flowery day of creativity, energy healing and mindfulness.

We know that working creatively with flowers is a beautiful thing to do. Those of us who run floral workshops have seen time and time again the benefit of working with your hands, with gorgeous natural materials and how that facilitates calm, positivity and meaningful conversations.

But in addition flowers have their own energetic signature and which ones you choose can tell you a lot about where you might be stuck and offer insights into how to navigate current challenges.

My floral retreat workshop combines reiki healing using individual flowers and floral creativity where you create a beautiful floral urn incorporating the flowers you have chosen.

It is a powerful, mindful day helping you to connect to yourself and to nature .

Over the past 20 years my business journey has evolved from purely event floristry to include the therapeutic and healing power of flowers and nature.

Powerful personal and professional transformation can be achieved through nature, creativity and energy work.
Flowers have their own energetic signature and harnessing the power of flowers for healing and well-being is an integral part of my business.

Of course anyone who works with flowers knows that workshops and retreats involving flowers facilitate relaxation, meaningful conversation and connection to nature. Using my Reiki training I can hold a therapeutic space professionally and support those needing more than just a lovely chat among flowers.

If you feel drawn to experience the healing power of flowers, energy work, or simply wish to reconnect with nature, I invite you to join me 🧡.

The garden in a bowl.
My beautiful tulips are having their last hurrah so it was wonderful to celebrate them in my nature gathering session yesterday.
They can be temperamental madams but this year they graced the gardens like the divas they are. Curtains down for them now until next year (🤞🏻).

Yesterday we visited the most beautiful woodland to see the bluebells.
Their beauty has captivated me since childhood and the experience of a bluebell wood is elusive and ethereal, and feels like stepping into another realm.

Bluebells are woven deeply into U.K. culture and folklore, being strongly associated with fairies and marking the boundary between our world and a magical one.

I think the alteration to our physiology when we are in such beautiful natural places enables to cross the bridge for a while and draw us into a world we normally can’t see or feel.

It’s worth remembering that half the world’s population of bluebells is found in the U.K. They are fragile, legally protected and integral to both nature and culture. They are a vital route to nature connection - it was my most powerful entry point to nature as a child.
But they are also a route to the magical things in this world and I think that is needed more than ever.

We know that finding a connection with nature is vital to our wellbeing. Finding time to immerse yourself in a natural space and notice all the beautiful details is a wonderful way to rest a busy brain.
Yesterday Lou Earnshaw | Artist | Outdoor Instructor and myself ran a mindful watercolour workshop in my cutting garden and studio Doddington Hall & Gardens .
We spent time foraging for beautiful details and Lou gently guided our group to capture colours and shapes using watercolour paint.
It was utterly beautiful, immersive and calming.
We will be doing it again for sure. If you sign up to my newsletter you will be the first to know.

‘The Nature Gathering ’ starts this month.

This series of workshops will immerse you in my garden over a year to find ways of expressing yourself creatively using a range of nature based creative practice.
Also, to learn about a way of gardening that facilitates nature connection through creating an inspiring space that we and other creatures can thrive in and find joy in.

will be leading some of these sessions, sharing his knowledge and expertise in creating habit friendly gardens.

The route to nature connection is seeing beauty and feeling that you are part of and have a relationship with nature.
This is what we are hoping to facilitate - as well as fun, good company and good food.

Details are in my bio or visit my website - I hope you can join us 🧡

I recently had the privilege of being part of a project where I ran art and wellbeing workshops inspired by nature and heritage for unpaid carers.

The aim was to provide peace and respite and I used the principles and pathways of nature connectedness in the workshops.

The project was evaluated by the University of Lincoln to assess the impact on the wellbeing of the participants. It took me about a week to read it because I was so utterly overwhelmed by emotion.

The results showed that the workshops provided lasting and significant effects on the participants wellbeing.

It showed that the workshops provided immediate relief from stress and anxiety and also actively built up participants long-term resilience and capacity to cope.

Participants directly linked the emotional shift they experienced during the sessions to the warm empathetic approach they experienced.

One participant reflected that ‘it has been a journey back to myself, to my creative nature which has lain dormant for many years’.

I have studied nature connectedness and trained as a facilitator. I have read many journals regarding its positive effect, but it is something else entirely to be part of a project that has shown such tangible positive benefits.

I hope to continue this work for people that need it through our CIC and I have incorporated all I have learned into my workshops.

It really was one of the most joyful and significant things I have ever had the privilege of experiencing and I hope this important work will continue for many more people who need it.
