How many fish can I put in my aquarium? It sounds like a question that should have a simple mathematical answer. For years, fishkeepers were told to allow roughly one inch of fish for every gallon of water.

The old “inch per gallon” rule can be useful as a rough warning sign, but it should never be treated as a reliable stocking formula. find out why here:

A new aquarium can look ready long before it actually is.

The water may be crystal clear, the filter may have been running for a few weeks, and everything may appear perfectly healthy. But none of those things proves that your aquarium is safe for fish.

The reliable way to know when a fish tank is cycled is to test the water and confirm that the aquarium’s biological filtration can process harmful waste properly.
