Trio of 7 1/4 Rustons belonging to my mates and myself at Hanworth steam rally today.
The 48DS and Midlander are both battery electrics but the 20DL has a petrol 6.5hp, it originally had a Ruston 1WB but it was a bit too noisy for the neighbours. The 48DS is a model of our full size 44/48HP IMP at Rocks By Rail - The Living Ironstone Museum

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway 2026 Part 24

Here's the long video for those of you that cant get to Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Co.Ltd any time soon, hope it gives a bit of insight into how nice a place it is to visit.
What i didnt catch on video was how brilliant the staff & volunteers are. The guys on the locos were friendly, the chap in the signal box was very forthcoming with answers to questions, the young lad in the gift shop was so polite and helpful and the lady in the cafe was very chatty and pleasant
It genuinely was the benchmark for how to engage with the public, so much so that we are going back to stay in the Pullman holiday coach shortly.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable trip on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Co.Ltd yesterday. Its one ive wanted to tick off since childhood but for one reason or another its not happened until nearly forty years of age. I can say wholeheartedly that it was worth the wait
Aside from being drenched in some of the most beautiful scenery you could wish for, the staff were start to finish some of the friendliest and welcoming I have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble, questions were happily answered and everything was done with a smile.
The locos and stock are immaculate and it took me by surprise just how hard they have to work on some of the gradients, the trains visibly bending upwards and downwards along their length. After an unplanned stop on one of said steep gradients to retrieve a dropped belonging, River Mite effortlessly got the nine coach train moving again.
My family were so taken with the area and how the staff are that we booked another short break in one of the pullman carriages at Ravenglass, which is also dog friendly (big plus point as we dont leave Bailey behind on a holiday) , and a huge win for me to get the green light to book a railway themed break without too much groaning 🤣
Staff told us that things have been rough since covid and whilst things are improving, they are still missing bums on seats from pre covid. If you are visiting the lake district please consider calling in and supporting a railway that to my eye is doing everything right

Managed to catch the nuclear flask train heading into Sellafield. Never seen one before, that's two in the same day now.......not got much clue on modern traction, Class 68's?
