One of the greatest privileges of our job is that we get to do it in one of England’s most beautiful cities.
Every morning we walk up Steep Hill, unlock the shop door and look out onto streets that have welcomed people for centuries. We see visitors discovering Lincoln for the first time, familiar faces popping in for a chat, and couples beginning the exciting journey of planning their wedding. It’s easy to take beautiful surroundings for granted, but we try not to.
We’re incredibly grateful to call this wonderful city home and to play a small part in its community.
Thank you, Lincoln, for supporting us over the years. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

If flowers could talk…

I often wonder what they would say.

The roses might whisper, “I love you.”
The sweet peas would fill the room with happy memories of summer.
The sunflowers would gently remind us to keep looking towards the light.
The forget-me-nots would quietly say, “You’ll always be remembered.”
And the daisies? I think they’d simply encourage us to smile.
But perhaps flowers don’t need words at all. They’ve been speaking their own language for generations.
They celebrate new beginnings.
They offer comfort in times of loss.
They say thank you, congratulations, I’m sorry and I’m thinking of you… all without saying a single word, and if flowers could speak, I don’t think they’d speak very loudly, because I don’t think they are shouters, I think they’d gently remind us to slow down, to notice the beauty around us, to cherish the people we love and to appreciate the season we’re in. Perhaps that’s why flowers have always been part of life’s most important moments. They quietly say the things our hearts sometimes struggle to put into words. Flowers have a language all of their own.
So on this beautiful Saturday I Wish you a day filled with beautiful conversations… whether spoken or quietly expressed through flowers.

People often ask me what my favourite flower is.

The truth is… it changes almost every week! As the seasons change so does my mind. I’m a bit fickle like that 😂 I have to say when it’s peony season they are definitely my favourite. But then the sweet peas happen along and I’ll fall in love with the scent of them. Then next it will be the roses that catch my eye or the simplicity of a bunch of daisies. After that comes the dahlias. And who can resist the cafe au laits? What’s a girl to do?
I think that’s one of the joys of working with flowers. Just when you think you’ve chosen a favourite, another one catches your eye. So this Friday, I’m curious…
If you could only have one flower in a vase at home this weekend, what would you choose?

People often apologise when they come into the shop. “ sorry I can’t breathe” (they’re halfway up the hill😂)

“ sorry, I just had to come in I could smell your shop all the way up the hill”
( in a good way I hope😂)

“Sorry, I’m not very good at choosing flowers.”

“Sorry, I don’t know anything about flowers.”

“Sorry, I don’t even know where to start.”

Please don’t worry.

You don’t need to know the names of the flowers. You don’t need to know what’s in season. You don’t need to have a Pinterest board or the perfect idea. That’s our job. Your job is simply to tell us about the person you’re buying them for.Because once we know who they’re for, choosing the flowers becomes the easy part.

People often see the finished bouquet, the beautifully dressed church or the wedding reception ready for guests.
What they don’t always see are the little moments beforehand. The careful tying of every ribbon. The final check that every stem is sitting just where it should. The stepping back, looking again and making one last tiny adjustment. Those little details might go unnoticed by most people, but they matter to us. Not because we’re striving for perfection, but because we know these flowers will become part of someone’s memories. They’ll be in the photographs that are looked at for years to come and in the moments a couple will never forget. It’s a lovely reminder that the things people remember are often built from lots of small acts of care. That’s one of the parts of floristry I love the most.

One of the lovely things about flowers is that they never seem to be in a hurry.
Each one opens in its own time.
No amount of wishing will make a bud bloom before it’s ready, and as a florist that can be incredibly frustrating, yet when the time is right, it unfolds exactly as it was created to.
I sometimes think we’re a little like that.
We can become impatient, wondering why life isn’t moving as quickly as we’d hoped, especially if we’re waiting for a big event to happen. Yet perhaps growth is happening in ways we can’t yet see.
So today, be kind to yourself. Trust the season you’re in, keep looking for the beauty around you and remember that some of life’s loveliest things take time.

A little Saturday thought…

Owning a flower shop has taught me that people don’t always come in because they need flowers. Sometimes they come in because they need a few minutes away from a busy day. A quiet browse, a friendly chat, a little inspiration or simply a moment of beauty. Sometimes it’s an opportunity to unburden themselves of today’s worries. Other times, it’s to share exciting news or celebrate a special milestone. Whatever brings them through our door, we love helping them choose flowers or find the perfect gift. But I hope they leave with something more than a bouquet. Perhaps they leave feeling a little lighter than when they came in. Perhaps they’ve caught their breath, paused for a while and allowed the fragrance of fresh flowers to fill their senses.
If we’ve managed to brighten someone’s day, even in the smallest way, then I’d say it’s been a good day.
