The Original Swap Shop is desperately low on baby, toddler and children’s clothing, pyjamas, coats and footwear in good, clean, wearable condition suitable for autumn and winter.

If you are having a clear out, please consider donating to us so we can continue supporting local families.

We accept donations every weekday from 9AM to 6PM and Saturdays from 12PM to 3PM.

All pre loved items are FREE.

We have re stocked our rails and have brand new coats, pyjamas, dressing gowns, boots shoes and clothes starting from just £1. Coins only for our money rails we do not have a card machine. Please bring your own bags.

Swapping is NOT essential you are more than welcome to attend and take what you need.

A little update ahead of Friday.

As the summer holidays are now over, we are expecting The Original Swap Shop to be particularly busy this Friday.

We often have people who attend every week and arrive early, which has meant they have regularly been among the first to enter the room. Going forward, this will no longer happen.

To make things fairer for everyone, we will be inviting new visitors and people who haven’t attended for a while to browse first, before welcoming our regular weekly visitors.

Unfortunately, we have found that items are not always being distributed fairly, with the same people attending early and weekly and getting first choice of items. This is not what The Original Swap Shop is about.

We work on a NEED, NOT GREED basis.

Our aim is to help as many people and families as possible access clothing they genuinely need. We want everyone to have a fair opportunity to find something suitable.

Everyone is welcome to attend. If you are new to The Original Swap Shop, or you haven’t visited for a while, please don’t feel nervous about coming along — we would love to see you.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation while we put this system in place.

The Original Swap Shop is getting autumn/winter ready.

We will be open Friday 11/09/26 12 to 2PM

This week we will be clearing previous stock and updating our rails with autumn/winter items.

All pre-loved items are FREE to a good home, and we will have brand-new items starting from just £1. Please remember, we do not have a card machine — coins only for these rails.

We have a great selection of clothes, boots, shoes and coats suitable for men and women. We are still a little short on children’s clothes all ages and sizes but do have some available.

Swapping is NOT essential. You are more than welcome to attend and take what you need.

Simply turn up on the day and join the queue outside the building. You will then be called down to our room 2–3 people at a time.

We hate to moan, but we really need to remind everyone that The Original Swap Shop is a clothing bank, not a charity shop.

Yet again, we have had items left outside the office that we simply cannot accept, including broken toys, DVDs, books and dirty or broken baby equipment that is incomplete or not sanitary for a baby.

This is not acceptable.

We can only accept donations of good-quality, clean and wearable clothing, coats and footwear for babies, children, men and women.

Please do not donate items that are:
• Stained
• Ripped or damaged
• Heavily bobbled or worn down shoes
• Broken or incomplete
• Unsafe or unsuitable for use
• No toys, books, teddies, DVDs, bric a brac or household items

We are volunteers, and we are yet again having to spend time and money disposing of filthy teddies, broken or incomplete toys and dirty baby equipment.

Please remember that donating unwanted items does not mean leaving things for us to dispose of. If we cannot safely give it to another family, we cannot accept it.❗️❗️❗️
