Looking through some old copies of Rhythm mags ,and the adverts back in 1987/90 were quite spectacular. Would it be possible now you think? The industry has changed dramatically with the word“artist“ now banded around a bit too much! Picture 1/2 reflects a time when the industry was thriving. Every one in the picture was somebody! Can you name them all springs to mind ? The Neil Peart advert was a favourite. That Tama Drums was something else. Zildjian Cymbals these were good!

We’ve had a few weeks off from Instagram and it’s great to be back showcasing one of our new upcoming students from local hipsters The Blow.
Here’s Theo working through Phil Collins in the air tonight. Coincidentally we took a an old kit today with a box of Rhythm Magazines. Flicking through some, this one with willcalhoun from@livingcolour. Looking down we’ll blow my cotton socks it’s the one and only Lloyd ! Last photo I showed him with the baby and it was quite moving! Lloyd said he‘d never seen this picture and the little baby is Lloyd‘s son Damian! 36 years ago , still teaching and recovering well from his recent hip surgery. Well done Theo . Going in the right direction mate #

He’s Back! 🥁

We’re delighted to share that Lloyd is back where he belongs—behind the drum kit!

Just 8 weeks after hip replacement surgery, Lloyd is back in the drum seat, doing what he loves most. His determination, hard work, and passion for music have been truly inspiring.

A huge thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support, encouragement, and good wishes throughout his recovery. It has meant the world.

Lloyd is looking forward to making music again and seeing friends, followers, and fellow musicians along the way.

Here’s to new beginnings, great music, and many more beats to come! 🥁❤️

A nice little snippet about the first drumshop in Liverpool acme drums supplied by Miles Holmes son of Mike RIP. This is from 1987. I added the picture at the end when Brian tried to sneek in ! Honestly you don’t have to be the biggest drumshop to be the best ! Acme was incredible. Moochers paradise ! The Icicle works Chris Sharrock was Brian’s staff member! Funny days. I never knew brass & woodwind was for sale here!! Picture 2. ❤️

Ready to go to a new studio — this is Pick Withers’ Dire Straits Yamaha 9000RA Recording Artist drum set 🤩
Pick took delivery of this exact kit at the legendary Power Station NYC in 1982. This is the rare final RA-series — the 9000 drums with famous 30° painted bearing edges that make the sustain off the scale. Yamaha brought their grand piano soundboard expertise into this short-lived line, and the tone is simply incredible.
