Pride has always been more than celebration

It’s about community & finding the people who remind you that you’re not alone

It’s about creating spaces where people can exhale, take off the mask & stop scanning for danger so they can be themselves for a minute

Right now those spaces matter more than ever

We’re living through times where many LGBTQ+ people are watching support services disappear. Events face increasing pressure, q***r & trans identities are becoming more political talking points & hard won progress feels far less secure than it once did

That’s why community matters - when the world feels so uncertain we need places that remind us we belong

Q***r people have always found ways to create those spaces for one another & we’ll continue to do so loudly and proudly & with the generations coming after us in mind

BUT allyship matters too & it’s not enough to quietly support us behind closed doors & hope we’ll somehow know you care about our safety & wellbeing

Visibility matters, speaking up matters & creating welcoming spaces matters more than ever We’re living

Please remember that for many of us signs of safety aren’t a bonus they’re survival

& if there’s one thing pride continues to remind us of it’s that none of us were ever meant to do this alone🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

(A whole year later mind you) honestly you’d think I was the third wheel in this wedding album because I still talk about Aimee & Hannah’s flowers to this day and it’s officially been over a year since the best wedding extravaganza there ever was

The absolute best vibes for the absolute best people, give me a Liverpool wedding again please because the vibes are always 10/10 & I get to visit some of my favourite venues in the city

Living in May 2025🌊

May 2025 will forever have my heart first because of these two. At the start of what was the most beautiful month I traveled down to Devon for a wedding that will forever be one of my most favourite memories

I’m so lucky that I have the relationships I do with my couples because walking into a wedding and feeling so welcome is the best thing in the world and not only that but having couples that trust my vision even when the venue is miles away is honestly EVERYTHING

I’ve never done a colour palette like this and seeing it come together with that kinda view surrounded by so much love was just the absolute dream as q***r wedding florist. I got to mix fresh & dried florals, all inspired by the ocean, the coast & the coves that make everything that they are

So today I’m mentally here with Jess, Timea their gorgeous friends and family and the views that are beyond picture perfect🌊

I recently received these comments amongst others since starting a series all about building a floristry business over on another social media platform👀

I basically couldn’t disagree with these comments more

I’m incredibly proud to have built a q***r owned creative busines from scratch all from my kitchen table over the last 6 years. Not because I couldn’t work from a studio or lack professionalism but because I consciously choose a way of working that aligns with my life, overheads, capacity & the kind of business I want to build

My couples have never cared where I conditioned my flowers they care about the experience I create, the quality of my work, the care I put into their wedding & how supported and seen they feel throughout the process

I think creative industries can sometimes become deeply gatekept and inaccessible especially for people without huge financial privilege, traditional routes into the industry or confidence to start straight away

I believe there are many valid ways to become a florist, creative or a business owner. Some people come through college, flower schools, years of assisting and some are self taught and spend so much time refining their craft independently

None of those routes automatically determine talent, integrity or professionalism. Whilst I believe skill, training & responsibility matter I also believe confidence is built through practice, support, mentorship and being allowed to start before everything is perfect

That’s the energy I want around my work. Support over shame, community over competition & encouragement over elitism

Which is also why this space is beginning to expand. I know how many talented people are hiding behind their work right now & I want to create a space to help them grow & not feel embarrassed for starting where they are

So thank you for being here, trusting me, supporting me & not judging my kitchen😂💛

Did someone say expansion👀

Guys I feel a bit scared bringing this over here because I’m starting the process of merging my two worlds that up until this point have been separate lil galaxies🌍

Since January I’ve been quietly training in trauma informed somatic counselling & along the journey I’ve realised how many of us, especially those of us who are q***r, a lil introverted, creative & inherently self aware all share similar struggles when it comes to feeling safe, being seen & what that probably means for our nervous systems

Now if you’ve been here from the start you know the journey life has taken me on for the past 6 years but one thing that’s forever been a constant is this q***r little business of mine. Despite the struggles of balancing life & business my allyship has never wavered, I always come back to what I’ve created here & what it actually means to work as a very proud le***an Florist in such a heteronormative space

Fear not my flower magic (nor my le***anism) is going anywhere but I am going to expand what I share here to invite you in to the other side of my life. I’m talking being a business owner, the struggles we often face, what it’s really like starting a flower brand & how somatics and social media are so closely interwoven

I hope this can remain a place for lovers, q***r folk & creatives that need to share space with someone who understands the struggles of being seen in your most authentic light. I also hope this space can eventually find the people struggling with burn out, shame, grief & the realities of living with a chronic illness.

Growth feels a lil scary sometimes I can’t lie but it feels like the right time to evolve Freckles & Flowers into something full of so much meaning & purpose & I hope more than anything some of what I share & offer will help you in your own personal & professional journey💛

Before we had into spring🤞🏻

A big thank you for seeing me and my flower business through another March & another Mother’s Day💐 my posting schedule may be a little lapse here but it’s because I’ve been so busy with flowers this month for which I am so so so grateful🩷

I’ve built such a loyal customer base and these past few months some new faces have joined the gang so if you ordered with me for yet another year, especially both valentines and Mother’s Day this year I LOVE YOU🌷

Seriously it’s a turbulent time for self employment & I was blown away by how many orders still came flooding to my door so thank you for keep me going and keeping me busy💛

As we head into Spring I hope some beautiful new beginnings land for all of us & more so I hope you feel the gratefulness in the ever day even when it does still feel a little rainy, this first season of the year has very much taught me everything eventually passes good & bad so feeling grateful for it all at least keeps us present in the moments we’ll one day look back on & think wow I really did that💐

That being said though some actual warm sunshine wouldn’t go amiss💛
