1991 PATHFINDER stripped, bars refurbished, non standard STX SE 1" headset rebuilt and frame/forks scrubbed but not yet top coated. The chainstay protector might possibly be saved but it's really crispy. She's a looker for sure but probably won't be factory spec which is a shame but there's parts that just didn't make it ..

1991 MUDDY FOX PATHFINDER

1989/90? GEOFF WILES CUSTOM BUILD

There's two new arrivals desperately in need of restoration! Firstly an absolute classic 1991 MUDDY FOX in the gorgeous purple colour way with the decals mostly intact and yes the seat post does go down it's just a bit stubborn, and secondly an oddball GEOFF WILES ATB from possibly the late 80s or very early 90s which has the most glorious green/purple pearlescent paintwork which has to be seen in person to fully appreciate. The GEOFF has an eclectic mix of low end components but will be brought back to life and upgraded as that paintwork (and ubercool straight forks) deserves...

Here's one bike that definitely won't be ready for the retro MTB north east meetup but still progressing nicely.

COYOTE ULTRALITE now stripped and the frame cleaned. Most of the original components will be changed as it was a mixed bag of stuff anyway so I'll just build as and when I get time but for now she's back in storage totally naked ..

1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN has started to take shape, some of the recently cleaned parts refitted. The bars have had a sympathetic touchup to bring them in line with the rest of the bike. Don't be fooled, those aren't the original wheels as they're in for resto in the next few days so she's sitting on spares for now. Nothing is perfect, nothing is new or NOS it's all as it should be and was in the beginning and shall be forever 😎 (except the grips, they're new 😂) ..

Cleaning well and truly underway on the 1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN parts and bits and bobs. The seat clamp has faired the worst over time and hopefully I'll be able to source a replacement soon, and the nuts and bolts on the canti hangers are due for replacement but the rest? Considering the age it's all cleaned up nice! Especially that chainset - couldn't ask for better for the age...

So whilst the SUNN XIRCUIT and TREK 6000 have a chill awaiting parts it's the 1988 KONA FIRE MOUNTAIN's moment in the spotlight. She's been stripped, cleaned and had a lacquer refresh but retaining all the usage/age/patina/history or whatever you like to call it. There was no way I was going to mess with that amazing OG pink splatter paint so she's got rusty bubbly scratchy bits on show for all to see and I'm happy with that...

OG curved P2 forks again looking the part and cleaned up nice!

Sometimes I source a lovely condition, complete, worry free bike to just strip clean and rebuild. Other times I don't. This..is a don't.

1998 SUNN XIRCUIT PLUS or at least most of one! Seen here in its original purchase condition but on temporary wheels as I only got the original rear supplied. Missing grips, tatty and rusty frame/forks, dull chrome, worn components ect. As most of you know I like a challenge sometimes and this will certainly be one. I've done a SUNN before and got amazing results so let's see if this one can reach the standards already set ....

Latest project frame set build in hand! Spotted this frame locally but had to wait a few weeks to bring her home but here she is...

1992 TREK 6000 in splendid black with orange decals, excellent condition for the considerable age. Shown here as a mock up but I'm liking the black theme for it so most parts will stay. Currently with DX shifter units, DX hubs and DX cantilever arms, ZOOM stem and bars, black NOS kalloy seatpost, IRC MYTHOS tyres, 400/500LX running gear and VETTE LITE gel saddle....

Shown in original purchase condition and current build state...

Ready to go and splendid in it's new set of creamwall rubbers, UNIVEGA ALUMINIUM 702 brought back to life and colour coded blue, silver and a flash of red. STX SE matching hubs and shifter units, blue MARINLITE bars, blue spacers ect all tie in nicely with the polished frame. Bit of a change in direction from what was originally planned as I decided to market at a price that the next owner can use and enjoy for the summer without breaking the retro bank ..

Great news! She's finally finished and ready to move on! Possibly the cleanest M-TRAX I've come across and now fully upgraded from the factory poverty spec these always come with, all parts selected to match the black silver and red theme ..
