The ✨magic✨ of a glaze firing…before and after!

These beautiful pots were made by students on our 5 Week Throwing Course, who were complete beginners just five weeks ago! Taught by the wonderful , it’s been amazing to watch their pottery journeys and see how much their skills, knowledge and confidence have grown.

〰️PLAY WITH CLAY🌀

No pressure. Just clay.

Our brand new Play With Clay sessions are a chance to get your hands dirty, switch off and simply have a go. These aren’t taught pottery workshops, we’ll give you a quick demo to get you started, then the rest is up to you!

Choose how you want to play:

👐🏼HAND-BUILDING | £25pp | 1.5 hours
Roll, slab, pinch, coil, sculpt and experiment with clay at your own pace. We’ll show you the basics, then you’re free to make whatever you fancy. No experience needed | 16+

🌀WHEEL PLAY | £35pp | 1.5 hours
Always wanted to try the potters wheel? We’ll give you a quick demo and centre the clay for you, then it’s your turn to get stuck in. No experience needed | 16+

💫WHEEL HIRE | £15 per hour
Already know how to throw? Hire a wheel by the hour for independent practice in our studio. Previous throwing experience required | 18+

♻️Nothing is fired or kept. Play With Clay is all about the experience! When you’re finished, your clay goes back into our reclaim system to be recycled and played with all over again.

Clay, tools, aprons and equipment are all included. Just turn up and play✨

Team Wellbeing Day 🤝🏼 Pottery

We recently welcomed the lovely team from into the studio for a private Mug Making Workshop✨

Using slab-building techniques, everyone designed and hand-built their own mug from scratch, and we absolutely loved seeing all the different ideas come to life!

Thank you K2 Architects for spending your team wellbeing day with us. A gorgeous morning away from the desks and computer screens and getting creative and hands on✨

Level 2 Throwing Course Kiln Haul

All of these pots were made by our fabulous students who recently joined us on our Level 2 Throwing Course. Some completed their introductory course with us at Clay Workshop, while others came to us having learnt pottery elsewhere.

One of our favourite things about the Level 2 course is seeing everyone’s confidence grow as the weeks go on, and watching students begin to develop their own style while tackling more challenging forms and techniques.

Most of the pieces pictured were made during our collaring week, where students learn how to bring the clay inwards to create narrower necks and more enclosed forms.

Our next Level 2 Throwing Course starts Tuesday 6th October and runs until 15th December.

If you already have experience throwing on the wheel and want to take your skills further, this course is all about building consistency, refining your technique and learning new skills including collaring, throwing more complex forms and making lidded pieces.

If you’re ready for the next step in your throwing journey, this one’s for you!

We absolutely love seeing everyone’s individual style start to shine through on our courses✨

This incredible piece was made by Ethan on our Level 2 Throwing Course, and we honestly can’t get enough of it! It’s such a brilliant example of taking the techniques you’ve learnt and making them completely your own. Ethan already has a very distinctive creative style, but to see this come through in his pottery has been magical.

One of the best parts of teaching is watching confidence grow alongside creativity. No two makers, and no two pots, are ever the same, and that’s exactly what makes ceramics so exciting💛

MATCHA SET MAKING & TASTING | PINK PANDA X CLAY WORKSHOP

We’re so excited to announce this limited edition collaboration with P I N K P A N D A as part of their Summer Club ’26✨

Join us for a morning that combines the calming ritual of ceremonial matcha with the creativity of ceramics.

You’ll begin with a guided matcha experience led by Pink Panda Matcha, Liverpool’s leading matcha supplier to cafés including Derek’s, Cornhill Coffee, Alerta, Pocket Café and many more. Learn about the history of matcha, how to prepare it correctly, and enjoy ceremonial matcha tastings throughout the workshop.

Then we’ll guide you step-by-step through hand-building your very own ceramic:

A few moments from our latest Nerikomi Workshop✨

One of the most satisfying parts of Nerikomi is revealing the patterns hidden within the clay. Every slice and every trim uncovers something new, meaning no two pieces are ever the same.

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese pottery technique where layers of coloured clay are pressed together to create patterns that run all the way through the piece, rather than just on the surface. The word Nerikomi roughly translates to “kneading into”, referring to the process of combining different coloured clays.

These workshops are released as limited edition sessions, so keep an eye on our website and socials to be the first to hear when the next one drops🌀
