Just when we thought we had decorated pretty much everything out there to decorate........ We've installed Christmas lights for towns, villages, cities, international cities, international airports, theme parks, hotels, hotel chains, national stadiums, Premiership football stadiums, Premiership rugby stadiums, stadiums in general, famous arenas like the O2 in London, national high street shops, international high street shops, global leading brands like Amazon, the BBC and Sophos, Winter Wonderland events across the UK and even film sets for movies by world renowned, award winning directors.

But never a cash and carry.

During the Summer of 2020, our team at Commercial Christmas were given the challenge to provide "Cinematic, Dynamic and Colourful" lighting for the Film Director, Kevin Allen amidst the middle of lockdown.



Challenge accepted!



There were some obstacles to overcome to say the least, but we prevailed! The difficult and constant wet weather (including "Storm Ellen" and "Storm Francis"), added to the pressure whilst we ensured the power to the sets was reliable and safe as well as guaranteeing the lighting was 100% all of the time and on demand.



The location, a remote farm on Gower, Swansea, meant we had to ensure a doubly redundant system was in place which we achieved with generators. We provided Kevin with 24/7 around the clock support to ensure his shooting schedule wouldn't miss a beat. As a result, our lighting performed and functioned without fail for the duration of the shoot. (Thank you IP67 lights!)



We liaised with the Set Designers and came up with a plan for the lighting with all safety protocols met; at all times. Having seen what we had achieved for one of the sets and the service we had provided, Kevin was more than pleased with the additional production value our creative lighting solutions added. As a result, he subsequently tasked us to assist in lighting nearly every set, and in multiple locations around the farm.



Our on-site Electricians did a sterling job, with many late nights setting up to ensure the various sets were ready to go the next day, without fail. Our on-set support team were on set each day at 6.30am to ensure we were on hand as and when needed.

A challenging month and in difficult conditions, but I'm proud to say our team absolutely nailed it! We were both proud and delighted to be part of the team to support Kevin on his production of La Cha Cha and he kindly credited us as the films "Lighting Designers" as well as the film’s official "Gaffer" for the Electrical Services we provided. Another satisfied customer!
