Author Geoff Davies will be at the bookshop on Saturday 11th July from 11am - 1pm to sign copies of his book The Bloody Siege 1417 and to chat to customers.

One chapter in the book is headed Llanidloes, Powys 1408 which helps to make the book of local interest. The book is set during the tumultuous period of the Hundred Years' War, The Bloody Siege, 1417 is a riveting historical novel that brings to life the brutal realities of medieval warfare. England, under the reign of King Henry V, is embroiled in a relentless campaign against France. The story weaves together the experiences of knights, archers, and nobility as they navigate the treacherous terrain of both the battlefield and political intrigue. Through vividly detailed characters like Gruffyd Kynaston and Erik of Hordley, the reader is drawn into the world of siege warfare, honour, betrayal, and survival. As armies clash and cities fall, the book explores themes of loyalty and ambition, highlighting the personal sacrifices made in pursuit of victory. Filled with gripping battles and heart-wrenching moments of loss, The Bloody Siege, 1417 offers a compelling look at a pivotal moment in European history, where the fate of nations hang in the balance.

Come to the bookshop this morning from 10.30 to meet author Maya Jordan who will be chatting to customers and signing copies of her book Chopsy "Chopsy is a memoir like no other – a gut-wrenchingly powerful, yet frequently funny account of a life spent defying the prejudice and inequality faced by working-class women. Maya Jordan’s ambition and resilience was born in the library and nourished by the Open University – through poverty, early motherhood, precarious housing, caring responsibilities and chronic disability – to a point where she finally seized her right to write. 'Funny as hell and full of fight. Maya’s voice is the real deal' Daisy May Cooper'A curse on being ordinary! Wrong is not her name."

Her name is Maya Jordan. She is a noisy woman and we should fear her' Michael Sheen
