Another wriggly tin gem spotted whilst on an antiques call this week. I wonder what this wonderful shed was originally built for and what it’s used have been over the generations. Many such unassuming little buildings were active workshops for hobbyists and professionals alike, we know of several used as; Taylor’s and seamstress workshops, hat makers, cobblers and wood turners shop.
Difficult to believe that modern equivalent off the peg cost-effective sheds will last as long as these have and service so many generations (I know mine won’t lol). A testament to their design for sure.

I know I keep saying it but driving the lanes of west wales is and always has been one of my very favourite things to do. The anticipation of seeing something beautiful just around the next bend or over the next brow never tires and is often rewarded with gorgeous sights such as this one. We are so lucky that traditional whitewashed cottages still adorn our countryside, to drive down a lane as this one towards such a welcoming building as so many of our ancestors will have done before, by motorcar, horse or by foot stirs something in the soul, I can’t quite put into words what the feeling is but it’s one that makes me feel safe, warm and at home ❤️

A busy morning of antiques buying calls today with some very sweet smaller items bought.
We are live driving the lanes around here, there are always so many beautiful sights and the cutest buildings so see. This one near Cwmanne is darling and I could quite happily imagine myself cwtched up with a log fire as the autumn nights arrive.

Early start today heading out on several local buying calls at houses up in the hills. Today’s route takes us along the very special Sarn Helen Roman road to the village of Stags Head. It was long believed that the Eomans did not head this at West into Wales but as each year passes we are presented with new evidence of their occupation. Likely drawn to the region for its minerals including gold, silver, leaf and tin.

Wish us luck today, it’s going to be a busy one.

A very pretty traditional Hungarian pine vernacular box settle of gorgeous form. Superbly comfy with a generous seat and excellent storage, nice and strong with wonderful grain and colour and in perfect condition. A truly delightful piece.

Length 6ft 2” = 188cm. Height 3ft = 91cm
Seat Height 19” = 48cm. Depth 19” = 48cm

Something very special…
A superb mid Victorian Welsh Pine Wardrobe of stunning design, purchased from a mid Ceredigion farmhouse. Of highly sought after size with outstanding colour and surface. Complete with original smooth working locks and keys, lovely and clean smelling inside. The drawer runs smoothly and offers an incredible amount of storage.
In absolutely beautiful condition with just a few historic worm holes (fully treated) to mention. Doors open and close perfectly, completely original throughout and just the most wonderful example you could ever hope to find.
Antique Wardrobes as nice as this one are extremely hard to find and we don’t have them in often.
This wardrobe comes in two parts for ease of transport and locating within the home. Please note that antique wardrobes are a little less deep than modern wardrobes so you may require slightly shorter coat hangers.

We were sent these pics this afternoon by Diane; a very kind member of our community to let us know that we had a very special first time visitor to our Welsh Antiques Shop today. A beautiful White Stork.
This rare and gorgeous bird is huge and looks so even on our big chapel roof.
Last year this stork visited our village of cross inn for the summer for the first time and it is lovely to see it has returned.
Not sure whether it’s good luck if a stork poos on your chapel roof but I recon it should be a thing. And before you ask, no it didn’t bring a baby lol ❤️

Window spotting in Aberaeron may not be for everyone but it certainly is for me. With so many listed buildings in the town it’s a joy for Georgian and Victorian architecture lovers like ourselves. This little window is quite a rarity though being a three tier 12 pane arrangement with small opening sash to one third. Painted box and sill complete the attractive traditional look, one I think that is hard to beat.
