The Square Peg has been trading in Lochgilphead, Argyll, for nearly 40 years! Over that time it has grown from small beginnings into five distinct shops:

No. 5 - For the finer things in life! Jewellery, pottery, glass, beauty products, ladies accessories, gents gifts, hats, wood turnings, scarves, home furnishings - and unique, creative, Scottish gifts. The Sandwich Bar - our popular take-away, where we produce home-baking, hot & cold rolls and snacks, and serve organic and Rainforest Alliance approved Tikki coffee. No. 11 - Toys, Gifts and Cards -we have a great selection of wooden toys - traditional as well as modern - Ty UK plush, Jellycat and Steiff, books, puzzles, games, etc. here we also have more fun and quirky stock - candles, design-led mugs and ceramics,and fabulous brands. Off The Peg - Open on Saturdays. Here you will find lots of bargains - goods that are slightly damaged or end-of-line products that we have removed from the main shops to make way for new products. We also sell on line at www.thesquarepegonline.co.uk (we are "the bricks behind the clicks")

The Sandwich bar opens it's door from 7am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays. The shops open between 10am and 5.00pm Monday to Saturday, and Off The Peg is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. We are not open on Sundays (it is Argyll, after all). BUT you can order goods from our site any time you like! 💛 FINAL DAY 💛

Tomorrow is our final day at The Square Peg.

Our gift shops have now closed, and tomorrow it’s time for the sandwich bar to say goodbye too. After 19 wonderful years, we will be closing our doors for the very last time tomorrow.

It’s hard to put into words what this little business has meant to me — and these past few days, seeing so many of you come in, have been incredibly special.

We’re open tomorrow from 8am until the food runs out for one last coffee, one last treat, and a chance to say goodbye. Hope you can make it.

💛 STILL TIME FOR ONE LAST VISIT 💛

The Square Peg gift shops have now closed their doors (thank you to all the shoppers who helped us clear the decks 🛍️) but the sandwich bar is still open for a few more days!

We’re open:

Today until 5pm
Tomorrow from 7am – 5pm
Saturday from 8am - until the food runs out!

⏳ LAST FEW DAYS AT THE SQUARE PEG GIFT SHOPS ⏳

We’re into the final few days at The Square Peg Gift Shops, and it’s nearly time to say goodbye.

No 5 ("the posh shop") has now sold out and is closed — thank you so much for all your support there.
No 11 (Toys, Gifts & Cards) is still open all day tomorrow, but stock is very limited and may not last into next week.

There are still some lovely things left in the sale — all half price — along with shop fittings and display pieces looking for new homes. If you’d like one last browse, pop in tomorrow.

The Sandwich Bar is open until Saturday 18th April — just one more week to pop in and enjoy your favourites before we close, whether it’s a large latte, a roll n sausage, an empire biscuit, or something else ☕🥪

💛 FINAL WEEK AT THE SQUARE PEG GIFT SHOPS 💛
Sooner than expected - we’re now into our last week of trading in the gift shops. Due to the incredible response to our sale, we’ve had to bring our closing date forward as stock is running out. The shelves are definitely starting to empty, but there are still some beautiful pieces to be found — all at half price.

It’s been so lovely seeing so many familiar faces coming in to say goodbye — it really does mean a lot.

If you’ve been meaning to pop in, now is the time!

Thank you to everyone who came along, queued, and supported us – we’ve sold nearly half our stock in one day!

It was busy (and a little chaotic at times), so we really appreciate your patience and kindness.

From 1st – 18th April, EVERYTHING in The Square Peg gift shops will be HALF PRICE.

After 19 wonderful years, we are closing our doors, and this is your chance to pick up some beautiful pieces at a huge discount - from gifts and homeware to jewellery and more.

We will also be selling off shop fittings and display furniture, so there will be lots of one-off bargains available.

Once it’s gone, it’s gone - so pop in early!

After 19 incredible years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to The Square Peg 💛

This is not the outcome I would have chosen, and not an easy decision to make, but following the sale of our buildings, we will be closing our doors for the final time on 18th April.

The Square Peg has been such a huge part of my life for nearly two decades, and of this community for nearly 50 years. From our gift shops to the sandwich bar (and all the baking in between!), it has been a real privilege to serve so many of you over the years.

I am incredibly proud of what we have built, and even more so of the amazing team who have been part of it. Their hard work, loyalty, and care have made The Square Peg what it is.

To all of our customers—a HUGE thank you. Your support, kindness, and loyalty have meant everything, especially through the more challenging times.

I would also like to thank all of our suppliers - both local and further afield - whose quality, reliability, and support have played such an important part in what we have been able to offer over the years.

And to friends and neighbours here in the town, thank you for your encouragement, support, and sense of community. It has meant more than you know.

As we come towards the end, we will be holding a closing down sale, with everything in the shop half price from 1st–18th April.

We will also be selling off a range of display furniture and shop fittings.

We will be open as usual until 18th April, and I do hope to see as many of you as possible before we close.
