I was waiting to write this when I had news as to where the Highland Craft Shack would be next and now it is long overdue, having packed up earlier this month.
I would like to thank all our customers from far and wise for taking time to stop and browse, for buying our handmade crafts, for the lovely notes of appreciation, and for well, honesty. Without that our fantastic network of Honesty Boxes in the Highlands wouldn’t work. It really has been an incredible journey for me, personally, and I will miss every part of that. Making is connecting, and that is what I love about it. Lastly, thank you to neighbours and local commuters for putting up with the increase in congestion at times 🐑 🚙 🛍️ We will be setting up an Etsy shop at some point, but will very much miss the magic of connecting by the roadside. If anybody would like the Highland Craft Shack at their road end for a short spell, do get in touch 😍

Hand-bound for the Craft Shack! 🪡 🖊️ 🎨 A fresh batch of books and albums are now available in our little roadside box. These are made from 190gsm Bockingford watercolour paper and from 250gsm Somerset Velvet 100% cotton paper, bound with linen flax in a chain stitch, with an optional ribbon tie. All books are suitable for ink, pastels, watercolour, crayons, pencil and glue! Ideal as sketchbooks, journals, albums or for scrapbooking. Make one your own 😍🤩😎

It’s refill day!! 📦 🛍️ 🎁 🤩🥳 The Craft Shack has been restocked with a bundle of new products as well as variations on favourite themes. My fridge magnets are one of my favourites to create with decoupage of maps and literature and miniature block prints cut from rubber. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Also more beaded jewellery, hand bound journals (mini and small), framed sea glass pictures and sea crock brooches. Take a peek when you are in the area 👀

A note about packaging 🌎 🛍️ 🗑️ I believe strongly in the three Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - and many of our creations repurpose paper and fabric, wood and rope. In fact the Craft Shack itself was built from off-cuts. At this point in time you will notice that some of our times (cards and magnetic art, soft covered books) are packaged, to protect them from the rain and wet hands (the door gets left open sometimes and shoppers visit in all weather!). This is packaging I have accumulated over decades (not exaggerating) and when it runs out, will not be restocked. The soft plastic packages are recyclable so I urge to you take it home with you OR unpack and leave at the Shack for me to reuse!
