24 SEASONS
#13 / 24 Beginning of Autumn 立 秋

[ 7 - 22 AUG ]
The official beginning of autumn in the ancient lunar calendar. In Japan, during the season of Obon (also known as Bon, combines the ancient Japanese belief in ancestral spirits with a Buddhist tradition to pay respect to one's ancestors.), various traditional events such as bonfires, floating lanterns, and Bon dances are held in many regions to honour the spirits of ancestors and departed loved ones. The silver charm necklace symbolizes connections.

暦の上での秋の始まり。お盆の時季、多くの地域で迎え火や精霊流し、盆踊りなど先祖や故人の霊を供養する様々な伝統行事が行われます。銀のチャームネックレスは、繋がりを象徴。

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who visited my Tea Green Pop Up Events stall at The Burrell Collection this weekend.

It was such a joy to meet so many people from different parts of the world, to share the stories behind my work, inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, culture and traditions, and to see my work find new homes.

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a little about how I approach my work at .

One of my aunts was an enamel artist, and I used to visit her studio when I was little. Looking back, those visits may have been the unconscious catalyst for my own journey into enamelling.

I'm fascinated by the delicate effects that can be achieved by combining a glass-based medium with metal, and by the fact that its fundamental techniques have remained largely unchanged since ancient times.

At the same time, I'm equally captivated by the way metal evolves over time, developing a beautiful patina and taking on more rustic, wabi-sabi-inspired qualities — an appreciation of natural irregularities and of the quiet beauty found in the passage of time.

Through both enamelling and traditional metalsmithing, I approach my work with deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. Above all, I am drawn to the gentle presence that handmade objects can hold — imperfect, yet full of life, quietly accompanying someone throughout their everyday life.

If my work can serve as a small bridge between long-held craft and design traditions and a contemporary audience, that would be the greatest honour.

I hope to see many of you at soon!

Hello! Following yesterday's reintroduction and the announcement of my upcoming fairs with , I'd like to introduce a few of the design collections from that I'll be showcasing there.

One of them is the Edo Komon Collection. Many of its designs are based on geometric motifs that have been loved and used in Japan for centuries. These patterns have long been regarded as auspicious symbols and are still commonly found in everyday life today.

This collection mainly features the techniques of cloisonné and champlevé enamelling. For my cloisonné work, I use Japanese enamel glazes together with traditional natural materials, including seaweed and powdered orchid bulbs. These are used to prepare the adhesive during the enamelling process. Champlevé, by contrast, involves applying enamel to a cast metal surface with recessed and raised areas.

I'll also be introducing my 24 Seasons Collection. Based on the traditional lunisolar calendar, it divides the year into 24 seasonal phases, many of which continue to shape everyday customs in Japan. Each season has its own story, inspiring a collection of organic textural metal jewellery that reflects the quiet beauty of nature.

Alongside these collections, I'll also have my wedding rings available. Every EMOSIWN piece is handcrafted with a focus on texture, form and timeless simplicity.

I hope to see many of you at the fairs!

Hello, everyone!
I'll be taking part in the summer craft fairs organised by this coming weekend, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to reintroduce myself.

My name is Yukiko Wilson, and I'm the designer and maker behind . Originally from Japan, I moved to Scotland five years ago and am now based in the beautiful lochside village of Lochwinnoch.

I create jewellery from my home studio, working primarily with traditional Japanese shippo enamel. Growing up in a family that ran a kimono house rooted in traditional craftsmanship, I was surrounded by historic Japanese design from an early age. While this heritage continues to inform my work, I also draw inspiration from the natural world and the cosmos.

I'm truly looking forward to meeting many of you over the coming weeks.

TANABATA STAR FESTIVAL 七夕
TANZAKU earrings — a pair of earrings designed with asymmetrical lengths, inspired by the Japanese appreciation of asymmetry found in traditional arts such as tea ceremony arrangements. Through subtle differences, they create a sense of harmony, reflecting the balance found in nature.

Rooted in the changing seasons and the quiet moments between them, these pieces celebrate the beauty of imperfection, movement, and space.

24 SEASONS COLLECTION
Japan’s 24 Seasons originate from an ancient calendar, and many of their customs are still observed today.

#11 小暑 [7–22 JULY] EARLY SUMMER HEAT / TANZAKU
Following the traditional lunisolar calendar, this is the season when the heat gradually intensifies. The custom of writing wishes on tanzaku (small strips of paper) during the Tanabata Star Festival on 7 July is said to originate from the practice of grinding ink with night dew collected from taro leaves. People would then write poems on leaves, expressing a wish to improve their skills in waka poetry and calligraphy. The jewellery is designed to echo the form of a tanzaku.

24 SEASONS – No.10 [21 JUNE – 6 JULY]
Summer Solstice

The day with the longest daylight and the shortest night of the year, known as the summer solstice.

A unique ring inspired by the traditional Japanese sweet Minazuki.

On 30th June, the halfway point of the year, the ritual known as Nagoshi no Harae is performed to cleanse oneself of impurities accumulated over the past six months, and to pray for health and protection in the latter half of the year. The traditional wagashi (Japanese sweet) Minazuki, used in this ceremony since the Heian period (794–1185 AD), features red azuki beans believed to purify and ward off evil spirits. Its triangular shape represents freshly shaved ice, symbolising a refreshing way to dispel the summer heat. The silver grains are designed to resemble azuki beans, also believed to offer protection.

I wish you all a wonderful second half of the year.
